help...small question bout the 182...

my 182 had been garaged for about 6months, turned over for the first few months...

but then dingied..just went out, the battery was completely flat...i charged it a wee bit, using one of those portable chargers...but

when i tried to turn on the ignition...its just making a series of fast loud clicks...(like a machine gun) and all the dash lights are flashing, along with the headlights...

does any one know what the problem is?? something to do with the starter motor? or fuses or imoboliser..??

im hoping its just the battery....and ive not fecked the car...

so i will just go out and buy hunners of prozzers with the insurance money...

get my road tax the morra...then it will be...

in toon rollin way the wide boys...braaaap......with the shades, racing between lights...

and looking coool as s**t...

its not so much the "replacing" of it...its just the whole spending money...i am a scaff...

will the fact that everything was dissconected, feck anything in the car..i.e alarm mobiliser...stuff like that...

i know my radio code and stuff, so that pish is okays..

WE HAVE LIFE....

the car just started up, after a right good charge...

should i leave the engine running for a bit? will this charge the bugger up even more??

also the rear brakes where stuck, but a few rocks and rolls sorted this out...

Not the most saavy on these sort of things, but "they" always say a proper long drive after battery problems sorts things out!

Cool man...should get a wee doo organised wi the local boys..you, Chic, Iain, Adam, Ross, Davey etc..

Up over the Eaglesham moor road n a wee photo sesh somewhere..

How come its been off the road for 7 months? Its going to feel rapid after the Landy!

just put it off the road for the winter while i destroyed the streets in the landrover...it will prob be on the road for 6mths then i will swap again...

it doesnt bother me that much what i drive...its good to have the choice tho...but i wouldnt run 2 cars at the same time...

I had the same problem on my old cup..
Went on holiday came back fecker wouldnt start at all
kept making that ticking noise you mentioned.
Tried it on and off for 3 days no joy
went back on the fourth in the afternoon tried it worked straight away!
Took it out for a spin and she was fine ever since then...

batterys dont like the cold, so when weak or low of charge, your not going to get it started on a cold morning/day. If however youve gone back on a hottish day you have a better chance of having the car start, but still the battery is giving you early warning signs its on its last legs.

The battery as you all know gets charged when driving anyway, so it can still last for months to come. If the battery has gone completly dead you can bet its not a very healthy one, even after recharge.

That clicking sound is a great indication that the battery is dead :)

I had the same prob, I always get the battery tested before buying a replacement. If the battery is ok, then there's another problem elsewhere. I think my car has a drain on the battery, it's fine when left for 3 or so days, but two weeks and it's flatter than my instep.

It's worth checking your alternator, if you're able and the alternator belt too.
