197......... nice, why not look at 182s if u r willin to buy 1 slightly older with average miles.

i bought my 3yr old 182 from an arnold clark dealership with 40k on the clock and it came with a 3yr service/mot plan and a 2yr warrenty n i only paid 7k

possibly the best 7k i've spent since passin my drivin test, and is the most fun i've had 4 a while, totally took me by surprise when i took it 4 a test drive

Well want one with less than 15,000 miles really as I have about 6 weeks to wait until I am 21 and can stomach the insurance.

Seanaldo 1987 - love the car in yr picture btw, but really have my heart set on the 197 to be honest and would always regret it if i didnt buy one!

Would love the Xeon lights as an extra but not extremly bothered about the Recaro seats! Only must requests I have is it must be at least a year within the warrenty and be Albi blue!

Also is there a way to change the silver alloy wheels to the grey wheels as I really want to have these wheels!

anthracite wheels are on the F1. but i imagine you'd struggle to find a 15,000 miles for under 10k! i've got an F1 with obviously come with the recaros as standard, and to be honest, they're a little uncomfortable if you do long journeys. and the seats in a standard 197 do taper in around your sides (i'm comparing the feeling compared to that in a 172 cup) so it does feel snuggly - a little recaro-ish!

i'm right in thinking you can change the blubs if it were xeon-less. ive heard bulb changing is a task like!

i suppose you could get the alloys resprayed to anthracite?

Kool yeah would definatly look at getting them re sprayed if I could get it done properly!

Found a nice 197 for £9,500 on a site called Xtreme which I posted above? whats your thoughts on this particular one?

nice. it's obviously in the colour you like, under budget, and has quite a few k less miles than you'd be willing to go up to. do you have anything to trade in? if it's cash only i'd probably be cheeky and start at 8995. the worst they can say is no. have you discussed a deal yet? - what might they be willing to throw in for the asking price they've got on autotrader? tax etc. if they're giving you nothing i'd try to get at least 210 off for the tax.

No have not made an offer as of yet but know it was a straight purchase by the garage so im thinking there should be some room for negotiation i was thinking of bidding £8,500.00 and going from there! Especially condsidering the current market Im guessing these cars are not flying out the showrooms as quick as they are used to especially coming up to Christmas!

also it states in the auction the car has climate control but in the picture it has the standard heater controls????

  Barge
you'd be surprised. they still drive quite a hard bargain as i found out purchasing mine a few weeks back :) the climate control was an option, so that's definitely a tool to barter with, considering they have stated it in the ad. not sure how much it was as an option but a scoot on the renault website should help you find out. for what it is i'd say it's probably reasonable to pay around 9k. you looked on any sites to see their sale value privately?

Just offered the guy £8,500.00 for this 197 and didnt get a bite so going to wait a few days then go back with a final £8,750 and maybe a £9,00

Shorley these guys musy not be selling a bean a the moment quick cash sale in theory should be a no brainer! Thoughts????

  Barge
what did he say then? does this one have the cup chassis option? it's bumpy but a lot better with it... anyway - in theory yes. but they've got price targets still. and a lower end price which they won't go below regardless of the looming credit crunch. perhaps 8500 is just too low.

also, a good point is with a dealer it depends upon how long its been sitting on their books for. if it's relatively new they won't be pushy for the deal. after its been there a couple of weeks they'll be hoping to shift it.

I told him i could go up to £8,750 and he would not budge form £9,169.35 (strange price I agree)

Also have just come across this pu[ppy which looks even more inviting...

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-u...el=CLIO&min_pr=10000&max_pr=11000&max_mileage=

Have contacted this guy and told him i am willing to pay £10,000.00 think it may be worth pushing my budget to the brink for a year old car with 2,500 miles on! Anyone dealt with this company before?

Not really looking for the Cup pack as I may take it on a track once or twice but will mostly just going for drives in it so would prefer to be a little more comfortable!

I bought my 172FF from DS Cars...

They are nice blokes, only buy top of the line 2nd hand cars, so you'll get a good car from them, but they may try & bump up the price. I only managed to wangle £200 , 6 months tax & some petrol out of them!

  Clio 182
Yeah spoke to the guy last night and left a £10,000 bid with him for the car said i would be able to pay cash and pick the car up on tuesday! Should bepretty inviting for him for a quick sale! Do u mind me asking how much you the 172 was listed for so i can see what sort of margin discount you got!

Figure it is worth pushing my budget a little for such a new car!

  ClioSport 172
It was up for £5700 on auto trader but £5500 with them?! & as above I got them down to £5300 with 6 months tax & some petrol. To be fair it was a good deal at £5500 really at the time... They price them to sell quick, but not absurbly cheap obviously!

My car has been a joy & I doubt you'll be disappointed with what you get from them!

Added bonus is they are opposite a train station so well easy if you're picking the car up! I went in the week, middle of the day & got all the way there without having to buy a train ticket! :)

LOL sounds good to me! the £10,500 got sold this morning on first viewing so going to chill out and wait for a bargain to pop up!

Done Finally! Have just brought my Albi Blue 197 but now need to wait until Jan 12th to get my insurance for £1200.00 instead of £1800.00

I have 3 years named driver experience and Greenlight said they would not cover me which is a shame as they were the best price by£300! Any other suggestions for when im 21, Elephant are best at moment! Also anyone know of temp cover comany who will insure me for a month?????

  Barge
im with directline 3yrs ncb on a 197 F1 - i think being a girl is in my favour with them though. tesco/asda tend to insure anyone on any vehical too.
