Hi, I'm pretty new to the forum and I need help!!!

Yes I know the answer maybe obvious to some but for practicality I don't know what to do I'm 17 turning 18 soon I have a a silver 2005 clio extreme 4 75bhp whoop haha I'm lowering it I don't know wether to lower it 50mm or 60mm but for obvious reasons I don't think 60mm will be practical as a first car I will always have people in and with more weight 60mm soon turns into new back tyres every 4month haha so just some opinions please just to help me decide thanks guys/gals.... I will have pics added asoon as I figure out how to thanks again

Welcome!

I would look at 30-40 mm for a nice subtle drop and stick with a decent make of spring aswel or will ruin the ride

I'd check with your insurance aswel as may bump your premium right up

Re: Hi I'm pretty new to the forum I need help!!!

Alright mate, yeah i'd look at around the 40mm drop mark.. maybe 50 tops.
Look at eibach springs as they are a decent make... As said above, ring your insurance company in advance to find out what sort of premium you'll be paying.. may not be much as they only wanted an extra £20 for my coilovers when I put them on.

Having said that it will vary as I also know of someone who was going to have to pay £110 for the liberty of having coilovers.

Guessing you're from Newcastle aswell?

I had 60mm apex on mine. Never bottomed out on full load but ride was awful. Swapped for 35mm Eibach and spot on

Re: Hi I'm pretty new to the forum I need help!!!

60mm.

You're 18 and it's a 1.2, who cares how it handles or rides. Low as possible. It won't ruin tyres either, shouldn't even rub with 5 people in the car on 60mm springs, depending on what wheels you have on it.

Lol, I was 17 when I swapped for the 35s. I cared!

Definitely check with your insurance first mate, my insurance won't even touch me if I try lower by anything over 50mm! And mine goes up about 10% due to lowering about 30mm

Thanks guys really appreciate the help and I think I'm just gonna get 50mm on the 16 inch 172 reps so it's still gonna look nice and if the insurance asks I bought it that way :) but thanks a lot guys really nice community

^ I'd declare everything mate tbh. If you have a bang and they check the car and it has undeclared mods on it= insurance is void

Ring and ask first it may only be admin fee

Im running 60mm and when i had 4 people & a bootload of luggage (floor to ceiling) it never bottomed out/scraped/rubbed all the way to skeggy haha!

mine are FK springs on FK Hightec shocks. fairly stiff ride but not as bad as i thought it would be

I don't get people who avoid paying the extra for mods, it cost me £17 to declare non airbag wheel, bucket seat, eibach springs and air filter.

Don't be a Jew with your money, if you won't pay to insure it, don't do it, simples.

its just so stupid my mods cost me nothing just the fact they want you to be honest about them

friend of mine had a crash in his Vectra years ago, was lowered didn't tell insurance, insurance was void when he had a crash...
