How different are mondial and arctic blues?

So, following this thread, how different are the two? If placed side by side can you tell the difference?

Seen separately they look the same colour. I don't think I've ever seen a side by side photo actually.

I'm pretty sure i read a few months ago on CS , that someone had fitted an arctic blue 182 bonnet on a cup or a mondial bonnet and an arctic blue 182 , not sure which way round it was now , but they couldn't tell the difference . To me the Mondial blue always seems to look slightly less shiny than the arctic blue .

That's good news! My 12 year old panels are all slightly different shades of mondial anyway.

Rudimentary photoshop, but putting the 182's bumper on the 172, and the 172 bonnet on the 182.. still pretty similar.

When you say that about the purple..

when I cleaned my cup the other week it was really sunny and I could see loads of purple through the paint! Smart.

I think arctic has a lighter fleck in it mate

Heres a pic. Not the best but my cup is he one with the bonnet up. He was round earlier and I was saying that artic is slightly lighter. Naff all in it though

Thanks for the pic - they really do look alike there. Tbh with 12 years of fade on my cup every panel is different anyway.

I've just put an Arctic front bumper on my Cup and I'd say 99% of people wouldn't be able to tell

IIRC Mondial is classed as metallic, where as Arctic is a Pearl. I suspect the difference will only show up in bright sunlight when the arctic will 'flip'.

IMO after having different paint codes but the same colour paint on a car you will be able to tell (I am referring to Rover Flame Red and Flame Red '89; Both look identical in pics and on the shelf but do not match in the slightest if painted with one another). My Diablo Red Pug 106 GTi was terrible for this.

Maybe the people who couldn't tell the difference don't really care ; A friend of mine who paid £200 for a paintjob to repaint two doors and a dent think it looks great even though it looks like a kid could have repainted the side of it! Not a shine anywhere at all and it could be used as a nail file for the missus!😂
