by my insurance company........

quite a few months ago i changed over my insurance from CIS to a company called highway, this was through a broker called higos..
after seeing quite a few problems on here that peoples cover had been void i thought out of curiosity i would give them a ring. now before when i had spoke to my broker i was told that non performance enhancing mods were ok.

so i ring to speak them just to check its ok, and four days later i am being told that my insurance will be void because of the lowwering springs are to low and the stainless backbox and k&n are fitted.so i cant ctay with this company but the best my broker can do is Nowrich union for £2000, i was paying £650 with highway.

i have literally just had a call from my broker saying i may need to get rid of my springs (as they are to low, they only cover up to 50mm), my air filter and backbox.
i accept that the k&n is performance enhancing and may take that off. i have said i put on the stainless backbox as a longlife equivalent to my rusting old backbox and the springs i have to find out the drop on, if this is ok the insurance will be fine...

sorry for the essay but i need help on what to do please..........

loose the filter, you can argue the exhaust is for longer life and the springs you have are just well settled *cough-cough*

yeah just looked through my reciepts and the springs are 55mm drop, thatm means that highway will most probably void the insurance because of 5mm....

Try HIC mate. Im not sure what insurer they use though. Plus Member discount.

The car was like that when you got it I believe???

On the note of being screwed, I think you are. £1500 is a hell of a lot, I didnt pay that on my first car.

Mine is £700TPFT and that is with a total loss and 5 points, and 1NCB with HIC.

Unfortunately 1 years NCB is worth a hell of a lot, wish I hadnt wrote off half the cars in Derbyshire in my first year.

HIC use highway!
OIC. Should really look at that insurance certificate.

They were still cheaper for me than Highway direct and greenlight.

Just depends I guess.

to answer the above questions, i didnt declare the mods on signup as ithe car was standard when i bought it, i declared the mods as they were put on (or so i thought),

anyway just had a call from the broker (my mate) and he has managed to speak to highway and nothing is going to change to my premium it will stay at £670 third party fire & theft, with all mods declared, but they will only cover £150 on my stereo, and my excess is now £950,

what does anybody think on that....

Im with Highway, told them everything on sign up.(Via Greenlight insurance)

Yup, Greenlight use Highway. They quoted me £400 less than anyone else, but I still didnt use them!

Greenlight are cheap but their after service is pretty flaky, for instance I never got my cover not until October although Ive been insured since January. BUT, they did allow mods although I told them that I would be modifying the car when I first phoned and made sure that the mods I was carrying out wouldnt affect the premium.

What I think you have to ask yourself is, why do no other insurance companies allow pretty much unlimited mods yet Greenlight still charge you much less than other major named companies?

When I wrote a car off years ago I was with Barclays, I had a car supplied the same day and was paid out more than the car was worth within 3 weeks. Amazing service.

mate, there is NO point you paying insurance if your excess is so high, you will pay the majority of any claim, leaving you with almost nothing

950.00 excess !!
tell them f*ck off mate, they are taking the p*ss.

i was with highway, they were poop, it took them 3 goes to get my reg right !! they kept sending me endless cover notes & when the policy did come through it didnt even have the reg on, nor did it say fulll comp.
avoid them like the plague.
