is this whats best for a beginner? im new to all this but i'm wanting to correct my paint on the car and get rid of swirls and hazing etc
thanks for any advice (and apologies for the thread hijack lol)
let us know how you get on with it
Car: driven not detailed!
We'll see how I get on first lolChris your more than welcome to practice on my Ph1 when i get it Will offer you some Beer tokens of course
Instead of straigth forward polishing mate look into "glazing" "glazes" via machine aswell with a finishing pad. Or even do it after polishing just to nip out the little imperfections that are still there.
as above I found myslef using my DA more for pre wax cleansers as they cleaned the paint up nicel ready to wax, as well as doing a little filling like a glaze would with something like SRP, lime prime etc
:rasp: Smart arse!! True though....maybe "Driven more than detailed" ?? lolNeed to change that then
A few of the Polo, the paintwork is generally pretty s**t in all aspects, full of marks, chips and blotchy bits which would need rubbing down, the works!
The wing's state, same as the bonnet was
Shiney shiney
Dont worry, the bits that were being done and surroundung areas were washed, clayed, washed and dried before hand It was a trial so didnt wash the whole thing!
I got the das6 pro someone told me its pretty much the same performance as the meguirs g220.
You'll be fine with a DA mate. Have a read at this... http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=63859
Gives youa good understanding of the basics and how they work. The product names are old though so disregard them.
Are you planning on doing any heavy correction? Ie 2-3 stage polishing system, compounding and finishing. I hope not.
Buy a light polish and a glaze, polishing pad and finishing pad and you'll be fine.
One final question before buying, should I buy a paint depth gauge? Seen some basic ones for around £60. Cheers for the help.

That's a lie then. It's a totally different machine really. The G220 is one of the original DA's.
Cheers for your help gally, really appreciated.
Will get all the gear ordered next week, budget is £200 so that fits nicely! Using Nattys as my mate bought me some at Autosport at the weekend as a thanks for taking him (got free tickets) and his cars off the road, and he's seen me using Natty's Blue Liquid before. Will be looking at some Zynol later in the year by the looks of one of the threads on here.
Cheers, that was my only worry. Wasn't sure if it was worth getting a pdg for a DA. Might be asking for a Das6 for the birthday
