Incorrect Timing?

Incorrect timing on the cambelt, does it create pish acceleration, flat spots and pish MPG?

Oh an can it be altered without having to have the whole belt replaced?

If the timing is out, it is best to re-fit the belt as long as no damage has been caused? No other way really...:(

If this is the case, just buy a new cam belt and change that instead of refitting the old one. New belt's don't cost that much compared to a kit. Obviously depends on how long you've had the kit on there for?

Mine had no 5k kick and was just generally a bit slow. Didn't sound very meaty either. My dads doing the cambelt ATM. The inlet cam is slightly off so he can't get the locking tools on.

Probably caused from the previous cambelt change. They either didn't use the cam locking tools or the ones they used bent due to not being strong enough.

New belt is really cheap. I'd change it for piece of mind.

Mine was out for 5 and a half years. Main dealer fitted it. All that time it had problems cutting out at low revs when under load and the when starting from cold. Also the tick over was really lumpy. All these problems stopped when birchdown changed mine. It was ok at high engine speeds though and the power and economy seemed fine.

As above, idles uneven, acceleration is pish as is MPG compared to my last 1.6, as well as the fact that it was an Arnold Clark that replaced the belt.

Was the timing out by a lot? You deserve a medal for putting up with that for so long lol

Beef-Mc, might be worth getting the timing checked but as post number 3 said could also be just the lambda sensor. The symptoms youve listed all relate to that too.

I only had it a few months before I had the belts done, but looking through the history of the car it was back to the dealer many times to have the faults sorted and they never got to the bottom of it. Was out by 2 teeth I think they said. First belt snapped at 15k and was done under warranty along with a new cylinder head, so its now on it's third and still less than 50k miles.
