Induction Noise Question?

  Clio MK 4
Basically had my radiator replaced as it was leaking and it cost 300 quid!!!! Apparently they had to dismantle alot of the engine to get new one fitted.

Well when i went home my car sounds different. In a good way i think :S . Basically when i put my foot down it sounds like i have an induction kit. All i have is a full exhaust system and before they fitted the radiator i was annoyed the fact around the engine it always sounded a bit high pitched but now it sounds really deep and good.

Do you think it's because they had to remove parts and put it back to gether and maybe its all fitted tighter now making it sound like this?? They did remove and re fit the air filter.

Have you checked everything?

CAF's connected to airbox ok and is the filter actually in the box?

Were there any bits left over when they had finished?

As above, just make sure everythings connected back up right.

£300? Farking hell, lol. Me and Middo did his, took about 2 hours and the radiator was £80 2nd hand IIRC!

As for your question, I'd say they've left a hose off the airbox as said above!

you've been done lol. 300 quid what a rip off, you only need to take the bumper off. As said you can get a new one for circa 80 quid from eurocarparts, so not even like thats expensive

I'll agree with leaving the hose off as you have to remove it when doing things with the coolent

is it a bad thing if they left the hose off or isn't tight enough? They didn't have anything left. I quite like the sound though lol.

the part cost 100 quid rest was labour and 50 quid was VAT!

I just found out what it is. The main tube that connects the air filter to the engine isnt connected properly which is why it making an induction noise. I take it's bad to leave it as it is ye?? I just like the sound lol

lol dont do much work on engines I'm guesing

Right the feed that goes the the acoustic valve just disconnect it you will get the same roar noise and wont be damaging anything.

Am i being stupid or is this hose hard to attach? I can't seem to get the hose round the metal bit as at the moment it lose? Circled it on the picture (not my car btw). I'm guessing this being loose gives me the induction noise.

Id take it back to the garage and go mental, who doesnt connect a airbox feed back on? They could have buggered up your engine! you could have been running it sucking unfiltered air in for months before noticing!

o right so that bit not on properly is really bad?? going to go in tomorow morning. luckily it only been like that since yesterday afternoon.

undo the clip as much as you can and just force it back over, 5 mins job tops. it'll eventually give in - try taking it off completely and putting a bit of wd40 or grease on the hose entrance, not alot though! just to help it ease on.

once on do up the clip, easy.

unfiltered air = bad for engine, the engine could have been inhailing bits of grit, oil, insects etc which isn't doing it any good.

  a thirsty one
also never ever go back to that garage, its basically sucking in air from the engine bay without going through the air filter.

shoddy job from the garage really mate, if you like the noise just follow the pipe to the big platic air box at the front of the engine and there 2 pipes going into it, pull off the one on the right hand side near the battery it will give a little more induction noise.
