Is it possible to change instrument cluster?

  Clio III
I'm guessing I may need a OBD tool or some such for this if it is possible but...

Is it possible to change the bland looking dash clusters in my DCi for some better looking ones, from a sport for example?

Thanks as always.

Yes it can be done but:

Rev counter range will be wrong
If you have digital type clocks you will need the UCH configuration updating for analogue type display.

Is there no way of correcting the rev counter? Maybe swap out a sensor on the engine or re-program the clocks?

My rev / speedo are currently analogue but the fuel / temp are digital.

No, lol, the clocks on a diesel don't range as high on the tacho as a Diesel doesn't rev to just shy of 8k.

A Petrol will range from 0 - 8k where as a diesel only ranges from 0 - 6k. The clockset has a motor which controls the movement of the tacho needle which works off a resistance based signal. The ECU's all output the same values but the clock sets are configured with different faces. A petrol variant with a needle pointing to 12 o'clock will be 'x' ohms yet point to say 4.3krpm where a diesel at the same point and 'x ' ohms will be pointing to say 2.3krpm. Swapping them over doesn't mean that when you engine is at 3krpm that the petrol display will be at 3krpm also.

Very long winded, probably confusing (sorry) but I need a shower and I'm pouring my thoughts out here.

Nope that makes perfect sense I think lol

So basically the needle will sweep the same amount, but the numbers are laid out incorrectly... So effectively if I could transfer the numbers from my existing clock into the new one they would be correct?

If that's the case I think its well worth doing!

Does anyone on here program UCH? Or even better, does anyone know where I can get the kit to do it myself?! I was looking at a CAN CLIP system on the net about £300 I think it was, is that the right thing?
