Ive been conned by a buyer, Bast**ds!

I feel a bit of a fool.

I was selling an old phone on ebay, someone bought it after about a day or less 'buy it now' for £99+ extra postage to NIGERIA.

I had emails off the seller who says she lives in the states and she wants the phone posting to Nigeria for a friend and also a (perfectly genuine looking) email shortly after from PAYPAL(or so i thought) saying payment has been made to your account, in order for the funds to clear into your account we need the 'shipment tracking number' off your postage reciept.

So i had the phone posted to Nigeria, got the recipt and emailed on the shipment number:rolleyes: .

They even asked for a scan of the recipt for proof, lol!

That was the last i heard from tyhe buyer and the 'PAYPAL' emailer.

I Contacted paypal and told them whats gone off and basicly they said ive been conned and theres nothing they can do.

Im a tw*t but the phone wasn't really worth that much and ive learnt to be more cautious:eek: .

Not alot i can do about it now is there?:S

They tried it on with me to. i knew it was a scam anyway, so thought i would play a long for a laugh, couldnt believe the lenghts they went to, just to make it look geniune on their part.

I asked for them to pay me via paypal as normally they dont use this method, so the buyer emailed me a day later saying i can do this, so i thought cool lets see what he comes up with. Next day i got an email, pretending to be paypal saying the buyer had paid me and paypal are holding the money waiting for me to ship the item, then when its shipped they will give me my money yeah right lol.

Made me laugh so much that they had gone to that effort even though i knew it was a scam.
Its just annoying that u have to relist your item, I changed my settings after that so will not get anyone like that bidding on my items again.
Got my listing fees back from ebay, sent him really nasty email, never heard from um again.

Its funny that they think your not guna check you paypal account when it says youve been paid.

Also the email address my paypal goes to is different to the one they were sending emails to lol.

Oh and the biggest clue is that they cant even speak english lol

At least learn the language if ur going to try to scam people knobs!

Looks like u got done there mate, go in your ebay settings and make sure that nobody with zero feedback can bid on your item as its always the zero feeback bidders that have just created their ebay account will scam you.

I can normally spot them a mile off now, but can see how people could fall for it, makes me so angry!

get the phone blocked if you know the imei

Won't work unfortunately, the phone will only get blocked in the UK but still work in every other foreign country as they don't shared "banned" lists yet. That's why a lot of nicked UK phones end up on foreign ebay sites.

I also had a problem with Ebay. I sold a new, unused PKW 2000+ flashtool.
The highest bid was from a guy from Hungary with feedback 0. He was going to pay me with a cheque. He wrote I could expect the cheque very soon, but asked me to sent the tool immediately because he needed it. I didn't sent it. It's now 3 weeks later, but still didn't receive a payement. I mailed him and he told me he was sick, but he did sent the cheque a week ago. I had to sent the tool asap. Still nothing received. I HATE those guys so much. It's a f*cking procedure to arrange it with ebay and I have to relist it again.

The worst that happened to me was 2 years ago. They cheated me for 3000 €.

NEVER AGAIN

Blocking IMEI is no good as that only blacks it off of UK networks.

You could always list your auctions more carefully, i.e. selling within Uk only, Making a note in all your listings about scam tactics and you not allowing certain things like posting abroad.

You'll have to learn from it and move on as Ebay themselves are only in it for the money tbh. They mostly don't care just as long as they're getting payment charges. Everyone I know of has had some sort of scam been thrown their way on Ebay. I've personally stopped using it, as it's getting harder to figure out who's genuine and who isn't.

Not much help to get the phone back but, it'll will give you a clearer head on how to auction things in future.
