Just bought a Clio 1.8 16v

hi, new to the forum and new to clios. Just bought a J 92 16v, its red and has a few niggles id like to ask advice about.

1) Clutch cable has just been replaced, gear engagement is somewhat difficult sometimes and in reverse is especially difficult, although it was fine yesterday but not today. I have the receipt for the work done to replace cable and it did mention the heavyness of the clutch might have caused the snapped cable, and that the bleed nipple was seized and a replacement was not available...what does this mean? should i get it seen too?

2) rust is bubbling on rear arches, i believe this is a common problem...is it something i could tackle or can you replace the rear wings?

3) temp display on the dash is constantly flashing 30, but disappears when i turn the lights on, any ideas on how to fix this?

4) whats the recommended oil change interval and service interval?

car has done 102K and has just been MOTd.

cheers..

tim

1) New clutch probably.. mine snapped a cable and was mega stiff - the clutch itself was well worn.

2) You have the rust cut out, new plate welded in and sprayed normally.. Get it sealed properly tho, else itll just rust again within a few months.

3) The flashing 30 means no sensor I think - this is under the passenger wing mirror which is likely to be the cause. Turning the lights on and it disappearing is a seperate problem; this is the bulbs behind the display being blown - you can just change these.

4) 6000 oil change Id say.. and service.. If you have a service book, it tells you the intervals for minor and major services.
Cambelt is like, every 5 years or 72k etc.. so somethings can vary like that.

Enjoy your new car!

whats the cost for a replacement clutch?
£300 from most clucth specialist. Its an annoying job and takes a whole day to d. You might be able to find a specialist who will do it for less cash in hand though.

As for the rear arches you might be ale to get away with smashing all the rust away, sanding the arches down sealing and then spraying them.
