Well a lot has happened!!!
I couldn't be bothered to argue over a few hundred quid any longer so I called to accept the settlement figure of £4000.
So they have to do a confrence call to the DVLA to confirm I have a licence! Turns out I have 6 points on my licence from an incident that happened 2 years ago where someone test driving my car got caught speeding... as i didn't have his details and he didn't buy the car I got done for failure to provide drivers details (ever since then i've never let anyone test drive my cars!). The court sent me a letter stating I got a £300... nothing about points.
So unless I could prove that I didn't have points the insurance company weren't going to pay out... after a long telephone conversation with the court it turns out that the letter explaining the endorsments was never produced meaning it never got sent to me. Luckily they sent me a letter saying i never knew about them so the insurance company is paying out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But this took a week to sort out and was a very stressful week as you can imagine!
So now I've got 6 points... great. Lesson learnt, never let anyone test drive your car!!!! Unless you take all their details down first!
So I went to look at a very cheap ph2 monaco blue 172 today... was just down the road so thought it was worth looking at it. Well it was a peice of shite. Yes it was only £2400 but that was due to it having 120k miles!!! Then it needed a cambelt / aux belt and service, new headlight washer, the wheels were awful, the leather was awful, the car was filthy, fog light surround was fooked, scuff on the passenger mirror!!! List is endless. So after him telling me it was worth £3k and he took it in for p/x and is losing money on it at £2400 i walked away. I also had a 182 manifold but std cat / exhaust!?!?!? I thought that was weird and pointless tbh. The steering wheel was mint though!!!!
I have more to spend but as it was just round the corner i thought i'd have a look!
But hopefully next weekend I'll be picking up a certain iceberg silver 172 which will get all the bits off my cup, so Turini's, Coilies, Cup splitter and spoiler, de cat, exhaust and my Momo Team wheel. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!
At least things are finally looking up! It's been over a month now since the accident! I can't wait to get behind the wheel of something fun again as my mrs 1.4 206 is boring as hell! However, after not driving at all for 2 weeks her car actually felt quite nippy!!!!!!! haha.
