Just Track Use...

Evening all,

I've read a fair amount of threads on here regarding Suspension. The obligatory what's best for this etc..

My 172 won't see the road again, so if it starts and I'm happy with the way it drives, it'll be a TRACK CAR ONLY...

I'm not looking to spend thousands, but I do want the car to have a rather good setup.

I've thought about cooksports or just a Shock and spring setup but I think that will be too spongy for me.

So looking at cookies WITHOUT going for KW's or AST's, what would you guys all recommend.
I hear/see B14s mentioned a fair amount, but just for track use, will they be s good setup?

I'm hoping to put the car on track on its standard suspension, so I can see how it handles, then I shall upgrade from there.

Thanks all

Gaz GHA are the best ones available for a sensible price, theres a lad on CSOC (not sure if his on here) that gets them at a great price, i paid 425 for mine (although my rears will be cheeper than yours as its different on a mk1) Scott Weeks is his name

Or Steve in Worthing has some used ones

BC BR's with custom spring rates and adjustable solid top mounts (recommended) can be had for £824 from Kamracing, but honestly mate a set of stiff springs on fresh dampers is fine for these cars. I have cheapo AMAX springs from ECP and they're fine for an amateur like me doing 5-6 days a year. Add a stiff RARB and this would help a lot with the softer springs.

As you've mentioned go drive the car standard and take it from there.
