K-Tec Exhaust!

Just fitted me k-tec twin 3" exhaust yesterday after months of the standard renault rattles, heres what i think of it so far for any1 thinking of purchasing one....

To start of im not overly impressed with the build quality of it, i dont mean to dis k-tec as i know a lot of work must ave gone into it but for £350 squid its not even on par to the magnex quality ive had in the past. Also the baffle in the rear box was making a annoying tingling sound i had to sort out cos it hasnt been welded in that great

Fitting isnt too much of a hardship, the brackets work ok and i got some U-bolts with it too which is handy. Make sure you get a proper gasket from renault tho as the one i ordered ended up being too small :(

In terms of sound - the new quiet system so it were is in a few words -Still loud! its close to border line of being "too lound" but not quite, it got a real deep burble to it and gets loudest between 3000-4500rpm and then seems to quieten down a bit... neighbours are probably gonna hate it but it sounds good when u give it some, mite be a bit tiresome on steady motorway journys tho

All in all it doesnt rattle - and thats why i bought it! One thing i really have to b**ch about tho is the fact that only the tips of the tail pips are polished, the rest is a brush finish!! I think it makes it look well cheap and im gonna move it further back more this week to hide it as best i can.

Couldnt really comment as all the magnex stuff ive had has been absolutly spot on from neat welds to polished tail pipes etc,

Some bits of my k-tec i could ave nocked up myself in half n hour, especially the clamps which to be fair is just a few strips of stainless with a bolt welded at the end

Hmmm, well this one isnt... only the silencers are polished and the very tips of the tail pipes... everything else is either brush finished or hasnt been touched

You think the quiet system is loud......you should have heard the original straight through system!!!!! still waiting for my hearing to come back..LOL!

It will settle down after about 500 miles as it needs to soot up to stop the resonance.

Mine has the polished centre, rear box and tail pipes.....which are flush with the bottom of the bumper and looks the biz.

If you have any problems speak to David....he welcome all feedback, whether good or bad and will endeavour to put it right!!!! as its all about customer satisfaction!!!

What...what...did someone say something? Ill second that - the original k-tec straight through beastie is certainly loud ;)

Almost used to it now though - plus I can claim not to have heard the missus telling me to slow down:D

Hehehe the original K-tec is the dogs, you lot who had to get the quieter one are just chickens ;):p

Build quality is A1 imho, and their service is great too (David, just send me a couple of stickers for the plug mate LoL)

oh, an u aint heard loud until u heard the 4.5" slash cut !.......Shamone Mother f**ker !

R3OBC has got the twin 3 an it aint anywhere near as loud as mine hehe, i can set of car alarms with ease, even managed a house alarm with it once, dont think it was coincidence cos my mates managed it too, the same house lol

I too have an original KTR exhaust and straight through de-cat. Bruns right, the 4.5" one is LOUD!!! hehe

My whole backbox was polished and IMO the build quality was awesome, much better than any off the shelf systems Ive had before.

Whatever you do, dont get a 4.5" on an RT, Its so loud you think its a fast car coming along......... then you See Brun tootling past ;) lol yeah my twin 3" is quieter than Bruns 4.5", but that aint a bad thing, as the twin 3 was too loud for me when i first put it on! i have either gone deaf since, or it has quietened down.

And i know what you mean about the tail pipes, but.............schmooze!

Rob (only joking Brun lol)

only have a slight blemish on the tailpipe, looks like rust, but isnt, oh and the tailpipe is now a shade of gold, rather than the standard stainless look

wheres the cheapest place to buy these k-tec exhausts? anywhere other than k-tec themselves? k-tec seems to be quite expensive
