Knocking noises from steering/wheel

This is a new symptom I've only discovered today. It's obvious when I turn the steering to make turns etc, not so audible when making minor steering movements though.
I also hear a knock when gently mounting a kerb to park up.
There aren't any problems in actually driving the car, but I'd like to know this isn't a serious problem. I know the rod track ends are common faults, but wasn't sure if this could be it (as they were changed sometime before I bought the car about 6 months ago).

Could be strut top mounts as mine are knocking on bumps

Would that also explain the steering knocks too?
