Sorry pal, when you sold it on the car, you sold all rights to it as well. The theory of the job is to get your plate transferred to a retention certificate or your new car before you sell it.

Know someone on another forum who did the same, sold the car with his personal plate still on it planning to get it transferred over later... it never happened. He learnt the lesson the hard way!

Just done a quick search, P3 NRH is registered to a blue Renault 1998cc, first registered 01 05 2001

P3 NRH is not on the Motor Insurance Database today.
Date of liability 01 01 2010.
A Vehicle Identity Check (VIC) marker has been set against this vehicle record.

No insurance, no tax since Jan 2010 and a VIC required... I'd say its been written off.

Don't have a clue, ask the DVLA :).

I'd guess that as the plate belongs to the car the ownership of the registration plate would now be the insurance company. They're then either gonna flog it to be repaired and put back on the road after a VIC (and the plate would go with the sale of the car) or register it as disposed. Not sure whether plates from disposed cars can be reissued or not...
But yeah, that’s a guess. Ask the DVLA.

Been in touch with DVLA and if car has been written off the plate goes with it!

:-(

That will teach me for being trusting when selling car!
