i had a phone call last week from a customer (who funnily enough was booked in for a cambelt change at the time)
his car had conked out and the RAC man had towed him home
the info i was given over the phone was promising, apparently the RAC man said the cams were still turning
so anyway, i drove for an hour to the customers house with tools in tow, jacked the engine up and whipped off the cam cover, right enough the cams would turn, BUT the belt was loose as hell
the car was trailered to my workshop and i took it apart and found the following
a normal idler is on the right
a normal idler is on the right
lucky is an understatement! no damage found so far, fingers crossed!
