ta for the replies, It's a 1.5 diesel. DCI Dynamique 86.

Yeah it needs lowered badly but I don't want to change the performance or f**k up the suspension... The camera didnt capture the colour well, first pics look almost purply, the last pic is close to the colour. The wheels are 17" O.Z Titans. Got tints, and the renault spoiler..

Really want it lowered but I work in a garage and every one is telling me it will be a big mistake.

Want it colour coded though but not sure if its worth it when the cars already black (see other thread)

Probably gonna buy a kit for it aswell later on...

I also dont like the red lights at the back just think it would look alot smarter with the crystal tail lights like renault done for the mk2... none out yet for this shape yet though..

  RenaultSport 172.
lowering wont f**k it up. if anything it'l aid it as itll make it alot stiffer therefore making it handle loads better!

and as for the kit, wouldnt bother personally mate. drop and colour code :p

glasgow, aye ross its really dirty just now lol taking it round for a valet n polish tonight.

so colour coding worth while then? Anyone here have a coded car? Is it alright to use a jet wash etc on it? i heard it would flake off?

Seen a few mk3s with the renault body kit, and tbh, it looks the nuts... contemplating one of those!

what cars have you not been contemplating :S

looks smart...didnt think they were 17"s, they look really small.

  Mk3 SX
Nice! same as mine apart from i went for the 106 six speed SX which included the bodykit. Superb Engine, shifts aswell

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
Tis nice. Lowering certainly wont bugger anything up, unless you go too far and lower it further than the ground. Will make it look a hell of a lot meaner and it will handle better too.

:)

al

  ST on the way...
Our laguna is lowered 60mm ish and it handles really well compared to standard.

Gave it a wash lol, f**k sake look how high it is from the ground i could crawl under it !

any one help me and tell me how much I should get it lowered? keeping in mind ill probably be buying a body kit later n will still need room to fit it later on.

bodykit is a big mistake, will ruin the look of the car, totally devalue it too.

keep it simple, lower it 60mm at least.

looks no bad, no to keen on the wheels but they might look better when lowered

well its been colour coded, not a MASSIVE difference, a good finish to it though, especially the plastics at the rear and front... ill get pics when i get home.

Everyone in work is talking me out of lowering it, telling me i'll regret it and it will be a mistake. "You dnt want to start fuckin about with the suspension, not just that your warranty will then be finished" kind of things im hearing.

yeah i know it would look alot better lowered...

And here it is before it got coded...
you can notice it mostly on the front and rear... sides arent a huge diff, nice touch if you ask me..

And Yes, again, I DO KNOW my car could do with lowering.

Im also looking for some new tail lights, wondering if any oen could source me some black ones for the mk3?

to be honest it looks like a Ford KA on big wheels like my mates used to be. Even 40mm springs would bring it to a respectable height!! Its nice though dont get me wrong.

thats been thru a carwash lol

tell me about it mate, wasnt me lol, gonna get it polished n buffed soon

how much to lower my car?? what do i need? where do i take it? lol... dont know anything about lowering.
Infact i've always heard negative things about it in work etc until i came on here...

And about it not being a respectable height...

surely Renault has it that height for a reason.

depends how you do it, springs will probably cost between £60 and £100, garage might charge £50+ maybe i dunno to fit them.

springs and shocks your lookin at £300ish for a decent kit but thats easier to fit yourself since your just undo'ing bolts and swapping over a suspension unit.

Your talking about invalidating your warrenty, surely youve already done that by tinting the windows and adding "17 alloys....

No renault are just dumb to be fair. Where do you work?

How can lowering your car be a negative thing unless your offroading. Dropping it no lower than60- 80mm really is still practical. Lower than that and your into show car terrirtory. Not only does it look 10x better on ANY car but it improves the handleing of the car a hell of a lot and reduces body roll since the cars closer to the ground. How is any of that negative. Sounds like the guys at work either dont know what theyre talking about/are against boy racers/ or are old men with a hatrid for done up cars.

if it runs so much better once lowered, why aren't they designed like that :-S

f**k it, i want it lowered...

Where do i start? Can the garage provide & fit?

also, any sites that have mk3 tail lights? sorry to be a pain in the arse, this is my first car.

Im extreeeemly bored tonight mate, so im setting about trying to find you some springs, you dont really wanna go lower than 60mm on standard shocks IIRC. but just lowering on springs, especially as low as 60mm will make the car very bumpy

the standard tail lights are fine no need to change lol!

as for lowering only springs id fit to standard dampers are eibach or simiar height ones as they wont stress them too much!

anything else go for springs and dampers, apex -60mm would be ok if they do them for it yet, or if your feeling like spending go for coilovers :)

im assuming the people telling you dont to mess with suspension are the old mechanics? all older mechanics that i know through my dad etc all think lowering cars is stupid and you should never mess with the suspension lol infact they dont agree with modifying at all!

Correct. Do what you want with it its your car mate, they might hum and haw when you do this and that but so what! Its yours!!!

I had to laugh when my dad said getting a Clio 172 was a "waste of money"

(he happened to be a mechanic back in the day)

Aye cause spending £1000 on a fishing rod isnt..... ;)

My 1.2 was lowered -60 on suspension kits and i have taken it off the sell and it handles like a boat! The handling was sooooo much better while the kit was on.

You wont regret lowering it one bit! if you get a kit or coilies :)
