Having sold my 172 cup a few months ago I picked up 2 of these MR200's in the space of a month. 1 coming up is quite rare let alone 2!
Wanted to stay on here so thought id put some pics up (Dont hate please!)

So as ever I leave everything to the last minute Got the wheels on. They are a little rough but I quite like the satin so going to have a go at doing them myself again . These aren't permanent as the turinis look so much better in my opinion. I've still got the front and rear spacers to go on...

The Mountune MR200 kit is what the ST should have had from the factory and they can be picked up for decent money now so makes them great value. The noise from the inlet is really addictive.

The MR200 kit consists of:
- 1 of 75 producing 205bhp. Installed at Mountune HQ. I am lead to believe there are actually less than 75 in cirucaltion due to original casting issues when produced.
Kit included: CAIS, Full exhaust system with sports cat, piper cams, valve springs, and the i4 cast inlet with 60mm throttle body.


So, the first one I picked up had a long list of mods on it, and had been used as a daily driver for the past 4 years. Bilstein B12, bigger brakes, Rear ARB etc.

I ended up doing some bits to it, but the main thing was to strip it of the inlet to sell seperate and the Rear ARB. I have just sold the inlet and TB for £1.6k.

The car is now with my mate as a Mountune MP185 and headed off to life on the track, having just done a day at mallory. The wheels have come off the other MR200 i just purchased:

So, 4 weeks later another MR200 came up in facelift on ebay. Bidding run up, so i messaged the buyer on the off chance it hadnt sold..... anyway the following day I was headed down to Oxford to pick this one up.

Spec list on this pretty much the same in addition to KW suspension, bigger front and rear brakes, uprated discs and pads, lots of mountune parts, PAS cooler, OMP wheel, rare private plate, and lots of painted parts internal and external. The car previously belonged to a company called Paintmodz in blackpool. Most of the internal plastics have been painted ford panther black and have had a real good job done in addition to custom touches all around the car.

The engine bay is a little too lairy for my liking but im in the process of toning it down (So dont judge me ). A lot of it will go ford panther black in keeping with the rest of the car,, but will keep the inlet yellow as a focal point for the engine bay. There is no doubt to the level of workmanship that has gone into the paint and details around the car though such as the custom door kick plates, pin striping along the doors etc.

I've also just picked up a set of OZ Allegerita which were produced in conjunction with Mountune for Ford so pretty rare and really suit the car, and wrapped them in a set of Michelin PS3:

Mountune is enough for me. That it's NA gets me swelling. Please lose those wind deflectors though. They immediately cheapen any car to a total value of circa £0.01.

I'm surprised its worth that much haha! Dont worry ill be doing more with it over the months as it warms up, but you are right wind deflectors are not a huge draw for me either. Im torn on burning them or selling them. The accountant in me says sell and get at least some money back on them

The paint has been on the car 7 years so seems testament to it being a proper job. I also contacted him direct when I picked the car up and he was really helpful on info around the cars history.

Nice to see something different. Are they likely to be valuable in the future?

I’ve flittered between Clios and fiestas for a while and these seem to be following the clio trend currently. Prices are getting to rock bottom and there are so many being broken at the moment as they are worth more in parts so I assume it will get to a point where the values have to move upwards. The ones which are low mileage or a decent spec appear to be the ones slowly creeping up. I don’t think standard ones will ever have hero status but they are the last of a NA for Ford performance so who knows. I just hope these mountune ones retain some value due to the rarity of the inlet as they were limited production and very rarely come up for sale.

So after posting this I came into a couple of STs which were used for parts Which took my time up. One included a trip to Inverness from Nottingham. A 15 hour round drive

Been able to actually get some stuff done with this over past few weeks.

- Wheels have been smart repaired where they had kerb marks.
- ford panther black mirror caps swapped over from the red ones.
- genuine mountune red gearknob
-3D gel plates with shortened rear plate
- battery cover under battery box removed and painted in hammerite. All that area was also rubbed and coated in dynax UB.
- then thought let’s take front bumper off and paint and protect the slam panel in black.
- rear tow eye painted from red to black do hide it away
- front wheels removed and cleaned and then removed arch liners, cleaned, and coated in dynax UB
- Rear wheels removed and cleaned. Arch liners removed and pressure washed clean. Arches cleaned and coated in dynax UB
- also rubbed down and painted the rear springs as they were in a sorry state.
- removed headliner and dyed it black and purchased black sun visors from a mk2 focus ST
- swapped standard speakers all round for ones from a higher spec MK3 mondeo as apparently they are made by Sony. Decent anyway. And OEM.
PAS fluid changed for Dexron III as it was black not cherry red.

By far the biggest job I did was a “wire tuck” which basically moves all the wiring that covers the manifold and run it different routes around the engine bay. This required me to strip all the exposition g wiring and retape it all back up again in the right places. Not difficult just time consuming.


Currently in the process of having some parts sorted through hydro dipping. All the red is coming out the engine bay for carbon (rocker cover, battery cover, expansion tank cover, PAS cover). And having all the pillars inside dipped panther black like the rest of the interior and scuttle panel. Black boot handle is going so I can get rid of it. Really don’t like it for some reason.

They are brilliant cars. I think this is what they should have been from factory but obviously they needed to appeal to a wider market.

prices are rock bottom at the moment which is why most people are breaking the decent ones as there’s more money in them. Was Starting to see shoots of decent prices coming through though before the current situation.

Lovely, I nearly bought an ST in white but I know I would have always been annoyed knowing I couldn't get the MR200 kit! I'm sure the 185 is fine but seems a lot of money for the performance.

I had the 185 before this and against a 200 on track it was only top end where it pulled away although the inlet does help with the torque. I personally wouldn’t pay the money for a new kit as like you say it’s a lot of cash but they are great value second hand if you can find one. The inlets alone have been selling for anywhere between £1.5k-£2k

Had it doing 50mpg on a run east to west one day.

Hate the wheels though.

They are a great buy at current prices if you can find one that hasn’t been butchered.

All personal preference but completely understand what you mean on the wheels. I didn’t like them the first time I saw them but they have really grown on me and are a rare wheel which mountune sold themselves so adds to the car. They look a lot better in person and really suit the car.

First one was running ZS wheels as road wheels because they cost me £50 for a set of 15s which I used in the wet. For that price it made complete sense. Just narrow wheels

So managed to get a fair bit done over last few weeks.

Engine bay is done for now with most bits dipped in carbon. It’s a million miles away from where it was before.

Zero point one shifter extender in place of the mountune gearknob. I just didn’t like it.

Headliner died black and all plastics painted in ford panther black.

I’ve just sent the dash dials off to be changed for a custom change and all leds changed to white.

Also just picked up a set of recaro trendlines which you don’t normally see in fiestas so just need to figure out how they fit.

And managed to switch the airbag light off with the right resistor in it. Small thing but was bugging me.

It’s called scratch doctor fabric dye. I used about 1.5l to get it as dark as I needed it. Just applied with a brush. Really pleased with how it came out.

I’ve always liked the look of these and this one is no exception. I would definitely lose the wind deflectors as above and the yellow callipers. Just my personal taste but otherwise a good looking car.

Thought I’d update given the number of changes over past few months.

Most importantly the wind deflectors have gone

custom “mountune style” side stripes fitted with mountune decals. I’m currently undecided on the red or yellow one so running both for now

I’ve managed to source a very rare mountune carbon airbox cover. The inlets themselves are rare being 1 of 74 but I’m only aware currently of 5 of these airbox covers.

passed MOT with flying colours.

turned all the internal lights white inc a custom heater panel because the standards can’t be changed.

Fitted a drivers side cobra imola pro seat which is a very nice fit.

got a mountain of parts stacked up at the moment.

im currently in the process of swapping the rear beam for the powder coated one, doing the bushes and suspension at the same time.

Yeh that’s why I’ve opted for a bucket seat for the drivers side. I need access to the rear occasionally hence keeping the standard passenger seat and it works quite well. I’ll get a pic of it when it’s back in.

Standard v standard the clio is in a league of its own, the ST needs a set of cams to get it near a clio (not opening a can of worms as I’ve had numerous Clios). Both have good chassis out the box though

McGard wheel nuts

had to put new callipers slides on all the way round and get new pinch bolts as they’d been on the car a while.

just needs setting up height and tracking wise at a later date.

always great to see another owner! Especially on another forum with how rare they are as there aren’t many on social media either.

thanks I wasn’t going to do a lot with it, but you know how it is quaife diff up next along with uprated mounts.

side stripes were from DMB. You need to contact them directly and I had the decals made up seperately.
SAS conversions on Facebook did the dials.

thanks @Danith I know of a couple that race and always seem to do Quite well. Ford always seem to be able to build a decent chassis. Not always the quickest but can go round corners well. Always liked the IB5 gearbox, coupled with the short shifter it does make a further improvement.

It is a quality kit most of the stuff is on all their cars. If I had another one it would have to be cammed minimum though.

As is the way I started something which has now taken a couple of weeks of evenings. Not every evening mind.

Full Roose Motorsport Silicone hose kit. Pig of a job due to access.

Power steering relocation so new fluid aswell.

Polybush engine mount inserts.

Rust protected under the engine mount and gave the engine mount a coat of hammerite

Whilst All the hoses were off I decided to change the thermostat for a genuine Ford item, more as preventive maintenance. And then 5 litres of coolant back in.

Bought a set of 15"team dynamics 2 for an absolute steal with ad08r on so going to get them rattle canned and then use as spares.

Want to get the car serviced at some point but got the gearbox with quaife diff ready to go on at some point aswell.

So managed to pick up a mountune billet oil cap recently to add to the engine bay, which are out of stock.

And because I love changing suspension, more so I cant avoid a good deal I recently picked up a set of what seem nearly new bilstein B12 suspension. Ordered new top mounts all round and fitted at the Weekend in just over 3 hours. Helps when everything isn't rusty. Just letting it all settle down but pleased with the height and ride so far. This should be fit and forget which is easier for me.

Also picked up a set of team dynamic pro race 2 in 15" which were an absolute steal. Even with weights there's much more clearance than the TD1. 2 I had before for the 300mm brakes.

Rattle canned them in panther Black and come out OK. Fitted with federal 595 RSR and yoko AD08r 195 50 15. Cheap spare set.

So something I've always wanted to have on a car but never wanted to commit to doing is a diff.

Got one fitted today. Picked up a recently rebuilt gearbox about 3 months ago now. Rebuilt Dec 2019 and quaife diff new in 2018 according to last owner.

Went over to my mates garage and touch wood went OK.Swapped out the clutch for a motorcraft LUK one and the grooves on the old clutch plate had disappeared which I could feel at higher revs. i think it's the original clutch unless someone has managed to burn through 2 in its life so it hasn't done bad.

Motul diff oil filled up and brake fluid topped up. Clutch bled and all seems good so far. Started raining as soon as I went outside so not had a chance with it but can feel stereing wheel wanting to straighten up

Just had a motordrive carbon kevlar for a couple of months but then these came up which were a mountune option and I couldnt say no.

Recaro sportster CS seats. They were purchased new, so not out of anything originally and are fitted to custom mk6 frames so straight bolt in job. 30 mins and all sorted. Really like these!

Rolled the car back to give it a clean whilst it's SORN so got a quick pic with the seats in.

Using Yum Cars ceramic spray. For a spray it gives brilliant beading for little effort.

Would love to get a single stage machine polish done at some point. will have a further look Into it at some point.
