Have a squeaky water pump on the megane scenic.

It is a 2.0 RXE 2000 so must be closely related to a 172 ( F4 engine ).

How easy is it to change the water pump ? I guess it is driven by the aux belt. Any special tools required ?

Its not necessarily related to the F4R at all, could be an F7R (closish) or an F3R (nothing like it). Need details first, 8v or 16v?

It will be an F4R, Its driven by the Aux belt and is pretty easy to replace. Lack of room is going to be your worst enimy!

140bhp will be probably F4R then as said seems wierd on that ealier plate as they were still using the F5R IDE engine a lot then in the megane the F4R didn't come in until the last ones on circa 02 plate, probably driven by the aux belt as said. Although may be different as its driven by the cambelt in the Meg 2, would've thought you'd get access easily enough in a scenic (more so than a 1*2 anyway).
