minter 5 turbo, sell or keep... dilemma :(

  Titanium ph1 turbo
Righty,

I've got a minter 5 turbo which I keep garaged in the winter and drive in the summer. I'm the 2nd owner from new, the previous keeper was a lady in her 50's who owned it from new since 1989. She sold it as she had a shoulder problem and the doctors told her she needed a car with power steering.. She was sad to see it go to say the least.

It's got a full service stamped history, every receipt from new, and it's 100% original and standard, never been messed with. It's in what I would describe as perfect running order, certainly a rare example these days. The only downside is it has 143k on the clock, but it runs like a dream, certainly the full service history has helped keep it ticking.

I paid £1500 for it 2 years ago, i'm a bit short of cash because i'm not working right now. The question is should I sell it, or should I keep it.. I don't know what kind of value I would get back for it now, maybe just the same? I'm wondering if maybe as these cars become rarer and rarer in standard form it might increase in value in the next few years.. having said that, I'm also thinking that if I sell it, then I wont pick up another good example again and I might regret selling it....

The final dilemma I have is that having owned 2 other 5 turbos previously, these were tuned 5 turbos nearing 180-190bhp and were stupidly fun to drive, the 5 I have in standard form now isn't quite the same, but i'm scared to mod it in fear of screwing up such a good example... I think it would be a crime to bleed valve and dump valve it.

Just don't know what to do, any suggestions?

Keep it!

Standard, looked after, appreciated for it's original handling and balance.

You'll regret it if you let it go as you won't find another that isn't silly money!

If it is mint, standard & original you'd be a fool to mod it...

Can't advise as whether to sell or keep, I am about to sell my mint R5 as well

Like other have said if youy sell it you may not find another as good, and regeret it.

Though 143K is a lot for an R5, when I started reading the post I thought it was going to be 20-30K example low miler. If it really is mint its been looked after well so you should keep it, but if you do need to sell - bear in mind anyone looking for one as a collectors car will be on the look out for a low mileage example so it would make yours hard to price.

In the same token like Rich said if its a mint example it would also be wrong to mod it.

Agree

Definately hold on to it and leave in the original condition.....can't be that many around that are stock now...most have been either wrapped around a tree, put in a ditch or modified to the poor ickle engines limit.

Id keep it, leave it standard and reep the rewards when they are silly money,

keep it standard and garaged.

Sell your house, furnature or even your nan before selling a car ;)

amazed to know there is one around thats not been? ;)

Keep it and mod the hell out of it, its what its waiting for.....lol

Dont worry about the milage m8...mine had 215,000 on it when I bought it...similar thing...not modded, older guy owned it, motorway miles and anything that needed replacing was done at a Renault garage. I modded mine (foolishly lol) and it popped...got the head skimmed etc and when I got it back it was better than ever but I had made my mind up about getting the Cup.

I`d like to say I`d keep it standard but as Simon said they are far too much fun with a few simple mods
