Misfiring and cutting out 2003 1.2 16v

hi, my clio has been misfiring lots and every now and then it cuts out and brings the electrical fault light up, it then wont rev higher than 3k but is so flat it isnt drivable. once i turn the car off and restart it its normal until it happens again. it occurs randomly, it can happen when the car is hot or cold, accelerating or maintaining a speed.

having read other peoples similar problems on here i have replaced the coil pack which made no difference, i already replaced the spark plugs before that as i thought that was an obvious solution but apparantly not!

anyone got any ideas? any help will be much appriciated!

thanx

I would suggest getting it to a garage to read the ECU and see what faults it has logged as you've already done my only suggestion, coil pack.

Mine is doing the exact same at the moment. The only difference being that the Toxic Managment Light is up constantly. I took it to a garage and they hooked it up to read off the ECU, they reset all the faults and told me to come back in when it happens again, which happened today.

Gonna get them to change the coil pack and see if that does anything.

Could it be anything else?

Mine was similar to this and it was the temp sensor.I could drive it slowly but any heavy foot movements put it in limp mode and that was it

Yup the 1.2 16v only has 1 coil pack with the HT leads built into it.

Other models including meganes had "pencil" type coil packs which were replaced individually.

Change of plugs and coil pack is the best way to start.

Also faulty lambda sensors are also common.

Had same issue on my 1 year old 106 1.1 when I had that. Was the coil pack that went, went at the worst time though up a big hill. Never made it to the end with 3 cyclinders firing
