Mods for 172

Now I've finished doing cosmetic mods to my car, just wondering what peoples opinions are on engine/breather mods. I've got a s/s exhaust and BMC CDA with caf. There much point in getting inlets matched, decat and remap?
 
yes , you will release a few for ponies and car will be more driveable , meaning it will give a better response when driven ;)

I dunno, prob do it over a period of time seeing as my insurance has just anally attacked me

yeah I could get a decat and the matched inlets for about 250 and remap is around 295 I think.

I am currently in the same position as you.. S/S exhaust, ITG filter with BIG airfeeds into airbox.

Wouldnt bother telling the insurance people about inlet work, its pointless as they cant tell if it has been matched or not as everyone is different.

Spoke to a few people about inlet work and a remap.. everybody reccomends the inlet work and the remap just brings everything together plus abit more power(and raised rev limiter!)

Apparantly the above mods are even more noticable on a PH-1 :D

So thats why i am going down to GDI in a few weeks time when they get a PH-1 ECU in for the remap lol!

thing is my exhaust is pretty loud as it is, without a decat. And from what people on here say it makes it loooads louder!!

I've got GDI one, its really nice. Looks and sounds mint.

Sports cat are bloody expensive considering its just a cat with less cells than standard. 300 chuffing quid.

I wouldnt pay that much either!

Try exhausts UK Sheffield, they do 200cell sports cats fitted for around the £150 mark, with lifetime guarntee aswell. I may go and get one myself

would be interesting to see a modded 172 vs standard.
with the modded one having inlets matched, decat, remap, induction kit and s/s exhaust

nice. I really want to sort out those mods then maybe do a bit of weight saving to get it to cup weight

Think i saw your car at the last star city meet (few months back now)

I had a MK1 RSi with anthercite williams alloys..

I had a blast against my mates PH2 clio sport he has panel filter, sports cat + full system

I have catback, panel filter.. I gradually pull away from him already :D

its known that the phase 1's are quicker than phase 2's .

Im in tha same boat as ste172,ive got the same exhaust as him but have a decat and maxogen but i want inlets done and then remap at the end of it all

whats the exhaust like with a decat mate? Is it really loud on motorways and when cruising?

Motor ways are fine as i can hardly hear mine at 70-80 its 2k-3k were its a bit ear defening resonating but like i say other than town driving its a mint sound

Yeah couldnt agree more mate,if i could slip 1450quid on credit card without the other half noticing i would be getting an early xmas pressie and getting the cam kit from GDI:dapprove:
