Most Expensive Part??

Ive just come back from my local dealer after enquiring about a new clutch...
After having clutchs in previous cars i was expecting a quote of £400 all in, bearing in mind clutchs I've had previous have cost a couple hundred quid in other makes of vehicle.
The guy behind the counter told me all in with the parts, oils, seals etc it was going to be £860ish!! He knocked the VAT off bringing it down to £720ish which is still quite alot!

This got me thinking, what is the most expensive part you've bought for your clio?

  Discounted 1*2 parts
book time 7.8 hours (most dealers are going to be £60+ p/h) + £250.00 worth of parts, so the OP quote is about right from a dealer.

ScarySquirrel - Well that is some scary s**t right there. Glad you was able to sort it in the end though.

To answer the thread properly, I would have to say my ITB's, I had alot of other work done at the same time though.

Engine, belts, dephaser and other top quality fluids and service parts rang in at around £1700 on my trophy

I was quoted £1190 for a clutch change by our local Renault, suprisingly did nt go with them in the end....

  Clio MK2 1.4 16v
my mechanic charged me 200 euros for fitting the following parts

Timing belt
Aux Belt
Water Pump
Clutch

Total 11 hours of work.

At the same time i fitted the bodykit, new fog light and K&N induction kit and driver's side window switches.

  GTD, Lupo
1 bracket for my drivers recaro seat was £1700. The whole seat in parts comes in at around £4-5k

I just like to have it done at my local dealership for the history folder, plus Ive had a bad experirence with other garages before.

You've got a 53 plate 172. A Renault stamp really isn't worth the extra £400 when you come to sell it, you would lose more over the years going to Renault than you would trying to sell it with no service history at all.

I know most bodywork parts prices for Clio V6s are mental, bumpers are something like a grand (last time i looked).
Also receptionist at work recently bought a megane III RS250 cup, think it was knocking on £300 per front brake disc.
