Mount question

  clio sport 172
I'm going to change all of my mounts, so what is the best combination :

1. Engine mounts -
-1. Renault original mounts
-2. Replacement mounts
-3. Slightly harder mounts

2. Gearbox mounts -
-1. Renault original mounts
-2. Replacement mounts
-3. Slightly harder mounts

which combination to choose between these (price - quality) ?
thanks!

so, combo :
1. Renault orig. engine mounts + Renault orig. gearbox mounts
or
2. Replacement engine mounts + harder gearbox mounts
or
3. Harder engine mounts + harder gearbox mounts

by standard you mean - renault original or some aftermarket mounts? i'm asking as i don't know if there is some difference between oem and aftermarket mounts

  clio sport 172
is there any significant difference between oem and aftermarket mounts?
i have an other option to make all mounts new just slightly harder than original...or just stick with standard? my only issue with these mounts are vibrations that a lot of people complain

Yes they are alot stiffer not really neccesary for a road car.

just get the powerflex dogbone mount and leave the other 2 standard oem

You can change the engine mounts to standard new ones and get the powerflex dog bone mount- many people do this and it's a popular setup
or
you can get the whole lot (k-tec uprated engine mounts plus powerflex dog bone mount bushes). I did it and I'm happy with how the car feels but if you're bothered too much about vibrations stick to the first setup

ok ripp, are those vibrations you have too harsh or not?
are they only present on idle, not when you're driving?

only on idle, basically inexistent when driving. harsh wise.. anyone has a different scale of things so couldn't tell. All I can say is I'm used to the vibration now (I kinda like it tbh :D ) and the stiffness of the mounts always makes me smile when on full chat

ok thanks! i think i will go in that way...i can take out mine mounts and give it to a chap who will make them new, just slightly harder than stock.

Just changing them all to new Renault standard mounts and you will notice the difference. Powerflex dogbone though.

I've just changed to the vibratechnics mounts (haven't even changed the dogbone mount yet) and they take nearly all the slack out.

Gearchange is much improved and I can induce understeer and oversteer a lot more easily with throttle inputs.

With that said there is more vibration and noise in the car and you do need to be more alert with the throttle.

So it's great if it's a track car, probably less so if it's a daily driven car. I'd imagine just the dogbone mount with standard engine mounts would be good enough if you just want better gear changes.

depends mostly on what you want really. my car is a daily driver mainly and I knew from the start that I wanted solid mounts. I didn't worried about vibrations and if you do then maybe you should go for new std mounts plus powerflex dog bone

I got a good price for the original mounts.
Now my question is are these
- 6000073669 and 8200089697 engine mounts
- 6000073662 dogbone mount

are these all mounts and are there any other mounts that need to be changed or not?

I am looking for a full set of engine mounts (+ powerflex dog bone) - could anyone inform me as to where i can get a new set of these from? and fitted? and the approx cost of the work.

Also - to clairfy there are 4 mounts on the engine? - upper, lower, drivers side & passenger side?
