Well I thought I took more photos than what I did but oh well

Today I stripped the ancillaries, putting the bolts in a sorting case and labelling them by cold side, hot side etc etc

Then degreased the engine ready for paint.
Ordered some crackle black paint for the manifold and silver paint for the engine block.

I also removed the oil pan ready to fit the baffled sump, ordered some hondabond ht sealant too for when I refit.

Overall I've had a really good day getting stuck in.

I need to order a loom and charge harness but I'll cross that bridge when payday comes haha mint what a day

What chain are you using? Lots of companies do uprated tensiors and chains these days so might be worth a look if you can.

Lovely.

I enjoyed my MR2 roadster despite barely fitting in it. H&T was super awkward, maybe with a bucket seat on the floor and chopping the steering column cover down might help but I'd have to see it to try it again....

That said... K20 with a little turbo in one of these? lol....

I'll just be going oem from tegiwa matey. Ordering it today and will crack on at the weekend.

How tall are you?

I was thinking turbo but I think it would ruin the fun for me. Just can't wait to have a 9k n/a screamer on track!

I'm only 6' but always found my knees hit the steering wheel when changing gear unless I pivoted my whole leg (which felt unnatural)

Maybe I remember it to be worse than it was:

Oh yeah it'll be a track weapon, just not sure I could do that much modifying, especially with that engine, and not pop a turbo on there..

Coming along nicely mate. Cant wait to see/hear it on track. Stick to N/A as well as FI will just ruin the experience IMO. Mine is twitchy enough on exit with a mere 133 ft-lbs from the 2ZZ so the torque from a K20 FI would be a real handful getting out of corners IMO. Just go down the KPRO route if you feel its lacking a bit of grunt.

Cheers buddy. When you say kpro? As in ecu wise? I've already got one waiting to fit, well it's the k100 but essentially the same.

Got an rbc manifold to get from the below knob head too

Yeah KPRO/K100. Brill, that'll be around 240hp/170 ft-lbs which will be plenty for the light roadster :)

Don't worry, it's all safe and sound in my garage with a copious amounts of tiger seal on it :)

Have you thought about mapping? Would recommend CPL if you do go down that route. Fairly easy to get 230/240bhp NA from these and 350bhp supercharged....

Dont blow this one up at mapping mate ๐Ÿ‘
When did I blow up another one at mapping haha?

I reckon ill be going efi mate. Yeah I'm hoping for 240bhp, that'd be lovely!

I'll be extending thr firewall for the rbc to fit which will be fun.

Ordered my chain and tensioner today, been dreading removing the bottom pulley bolt but the milwaukee beast laughed at it

So I've been painting the engine and generally tidying it up.

I've removed the sump ready to fit the baffled insert
Sprayed the block and head and sump
Then tonight I've sprayed the Rocker cover with black crackle paint
Tomorrow I'll be doing the chain and tensioner with my mate from work

I've spent 30 mins tonight measuring the bolts from the engine and ordered the exact same in zinc yellow high tensile to give it a bit of refresh.

It was bizarre spraying the Rocker cover and it coming out like gloss, went out and came back at it looked like my ballsack. Mad

Made a start on cracking into the diff build tonight.

This is my first time doing anything gearbox related, seems pretty straight forward so far.

I got to the part where the open diff was out but then I went to the gym so will continue this week.

I'll be replacing those bolts for super sexy gold ones too.

Milwaukee stubby impact came into its own for whizzing off all the bolts so easily. What a beast, I can't stress how much the impacts have made my car life so much easier

Pics incoming. Everything looks alright inside, bearings feel pretty sweet.

Bit more work on it tonight.

I've removed the diff bearings using some heat. Remove the final drive and the speedo ring. Sweeeet

Going to take the box casing to work tomorrow and get it in the parts wash.

Started to receive some of the zinc plated bolts through so I've been eyeing them up next to the ones that will be replaced.

Got more gearbox ones on the way now. Shame it's all going to be hidden away.

Ordered the flange for the exhaust too

Tonight I've fitted the chain cover, all sealed with hondabondage sealant.

Fitted the cam cover

Fitted the baffled sump with more hondabanana sealant

Fitted the new bolts too where I can and I'm happy as f**k with it

I'm not happy that I was informed of thr wrong bast torque for the bolts so snapped it. Used my stud extractors for the first time and it worked a charm as you'll see in the photos that will no doubt be in a totally random order.

Painted the pulley matt black and polished the bottom pulley bolt.

Tomorrow if I get time ill finish building the diff box and paint that but I doubt I'll have time

Good Times, its going well so far.

More bits have arrived including the flange and some more gearbox and engine zinc bolts

I've ordered 4 x mandrel bends to suit the manifold and next week I'll be ordering the icengineworks exhaust modeling blocks so I can start building the manifold. Super excited to get stuck in to building it now I'll have that kit.

I'll be buying a dewalt chop saw with an abrasive wheel too as it will give much better cuts than my current mitre saw that has a really bad run out.

Hold my mole I've made a s**t f**k ton of progress and I'm excited.

The new diff is all fitted and back together. Relatively easy job. Having a 12t press definitely helped.

Then tonight I've been rebuilding the engine ancillaries and tidying more s**t up

I've sprayed the alternator casing and replaced those nuts with zinc ones too.

I've got my new rbc manifold thanks to @leeds2592 so tonight I chopped thst down to suit the k20 engine. It has an extra Coolant port for the oem integra head I think that's what it goes on as standard.

Sadly the exhaust modeling kit is out of stock in the UK so I'm tempted to order it from the us

Thanks
