That wheel 300mm Dan? I've the same one in 300 and it took a bit of getting used to. Nice wheel though.
It is the 300mm yeah.

I'm used to handling small things so it's perfect for me.

ROLL ME IN JAM

It cranks and I have fuel pressure!!!!!!! I am over the f**king moon. Honestly so happy after being nearly in tears Saturday over it

No oil and just using the world's smallest battery pack but wanted to see if the ecu sent that sexy signal and f**k me it did. There's fuel all over the floor too but who cares hahahahaha so happy eggs time

Made loads of progress this week.

Got the gear selectors on and getting gears, will tighten everything up when it's all adjusted right.

I made the clutch line but I'm not happy with it because its fully fixed and I want it to be flexy with the engine movement. Can see it in the pics.

I have also adapted the throttle to take the mr2 cable with a bit of metal from a megane 225. Tigged it up and it works perfectly.

Tonight is going to be focusing on the coolant pipes and fuel lines.

Coil packs have arrived as has my new race battery (golf cart battery)

The engine in the bay is starting to look purposeful and almost ready to go.

Great work mate. No better feeling when it turns over properly. I was terrified cranking mine for the first time thinking something has to go wrong here.

How you gonna prime the engine? I left the spark plugs out, disconnected the coils and pulled both fuel pump fuses in the engine bay and cranked for a few minutes in 15s bursts so not to burn the starter out, worked a treat.

I know dem feels all too well!!

That sounds like a good plan to me mate. I'll do something similar.

I was reading your cars thread from the previous owner last night wridly enough. Stumbled across it randomly.

Haha, ploughed a lot of money into it didn't he. £5700 for the 2zz swap alone 🤭

@James172C and @Akay came over the other night to do some shizzle.

Coolant pipes are all plumbed in now, got an adapter made at work for the coolant bottle degas line pictured..fuel line is all fitted now.

Akay fitted the steering wheel he kindly provided the boss for. Thanks again bud you're a star!

I have my custom shafts on the way.

I have the lambda sensor boss on the way along with thr sensor itself so I can weld it into the exhaust.

First fire will ne next week for sure :)

Had a solid day on the car. 12 until 8 straight. So straight Infact that I forgot to have dinner and tea but it's ok.

Today I have mounted the oil cooler and fitted the small battery. Fitting the oil cooler has allowed me to order the lines for it as I now know the lengths required. They're on the way along with:

-Ccv catch can
- Lambda sensor
- Lambda sensor weld on bosses
- 70mm aluminium tube for the intake. I'm going to make some pie cuts for this
- P clip for the coolant hose as it's close to a bracket that I'd like.
- going to order a new header tank tonight as the standard is minging

I've done the wiring to the battery too, it's quite neat and I'm super happy with it.

Had to make a bracket to hold the battery. Involved a bit of welding which was nice.

I'm hoping if all the things arrive next week in good time it might drive by itself this time next weekend.

I know you are probably aware but a direct bolt on oil cooler can crack.

I used these when I built my supercharged classic mini.

Little expensive for what they are but better than dropping your oil and decking your engine.

Thanks guys!

Received my custom shafts today. They look like they've been stood around for a bit as they were rusty so I've wire brush drilled them along with the intermediate shaft I got off a mate.

Just spent all evening building them, pressing the ends on with the press (absolute godsend for silent mechanicing as its currently 12.20am writing this.

Incredibly happy with them and they're all greased, booted and good to go!

Forgot how long it takes to build up driveshafts. Took a few pics.

This is the intermediate shaft that my mate sent me so I don't care how rusty it was... Wasn't the expensive ones haha

I am on such a push to get it finished now, had another evening sorting bits out.

I have now fully welded up the manifold and silencers now. I received an O2 sensor bung in the post so welded that on. First attempt at that and it went well.

IMG_20200114_210940.jpg

I've done bits of the outside of the manifold to where I can get to where the pipes meet the flange (hehe flange). It's welded from the inside so that wasn't even necessary I just wanted to add a bit more integrity. People usually just tack or run a small bead.

I received the oil cooler lines too but without receiving the other connectors that go Into the sandwich plate I don't want to mock any thing up just yet. They're going to be neatly p clipped.

IMG_20200114_190446.jpg

I've fitted the driveshafts, filled up with engine oil and gearbox oil.

Now that the exhaust is done I can try start it up. I didn't want to try without finishing the exhaust as I didn't want to coat the inside of the exhaust with soot as it would make it a pain to tig.

Might have a go at starting it tomorrow 😬😬

Thank you both! It's true, it's been such a learning curve learning new skills and to me that's what it's all about.

Received a load of parts. The oil pressure gauge has turned up scuffed though which I'm not happy about. I've emailed the guys asking what they will do about it.

Garage night tonight with @James172C. Let's see how far we get.

Today and this evening I've been sorting the coolant pipes and oil cooler lines and tapping for the pressure and temp gauge. Really happy with thr tidyness of it now. I was panicking a bit before as I thought I had ordered the lines too long but they are absolutely perfect.

I've also been making the intake pipe, this is out of 70mm aluminium tubing. I have started making the pie cuts for these as It needs to go at an angle to suit where the ramair filter is going thst I've got.

Got some welding to do on the tube for the air intake sensor which is exciting.

Pics of the oil cooler set up, this includes drilling and tapping in at 1/8 bsp for the pressure gauge.

I've p clipped it nicely and it is fixed sweeeet! Love the silver lines

Sorted out the top hose tube too by using the mr2 original silicone hose so that I can install my temperature gauge into the top hose housing as pictured

There are hundreds of gauge holder designs on the 3d printing database so will print off my own holder. Happy days

Cheers, its so close now
