Just been doing th gauges. All wired in now apart from the volt gauge but that's not a lot of work.

Fitted the exhaust and fired it up, turns out I do have engine speed and rpm gauge so that's all the wiring done.

Seats tomorrow with @leeds2592

So f**king excited.

Final jobs will be

The cage
Seats
Exhaust tip

Bits of tidying up

I feel like I only come into this thread to tell you that you should have done something different.

Since you can weld, I’d be putting AN fittings through out the coolant run. Way less of a ball ache than clips in the future and far less prone to coming off!

Wicked progress there Dan - whats the wheel like in relation to the clocks? I really struggled with one hence going up to a 350mm!

Thanks mate.
It just misses them which is good dude! It doesn't feel too out of place too with it being so small, kinda suits the interior

Awesome work mate. Cant wait to see it on the road. I very nearly binned mine yesterday. AR1's in cold, wet conditions are lethal. Managed to catch it in time before hitting a lamp post.

I'm up at the car this week so will get you those pics and dimensions for the cage.

  Twingo 133 Cup,
It's a good read this thread and how your welding is coming on.
I would of been tempted to put a strengthening plate at the ends of your seat mounts just incase!

Bloody hell that sounds brutal. Glad you didn't crash though mate.

And thank you, will be awesome as I'll get an idea on where to mount it around the bulkhead

Cheers dude, yeah I'm certainly getting more confident and I've changed my mind set from ooh I might be able to weld that to yeah I definitely can do

Where did you mean regarding the strengthen plates?

If you zoom in at the ends you can see a plate welded on it just adds strength as the metal will be thin where you have them currently so just helps spread the load. This is the way competition cars are done to get a passport for rallying and racing. There might be some better pictures on my build thread.

Thanks for explaining mate, so basically the ends of the box section are solid and not hollow. I wonder if I can get the torch in there as its a good shout. Cheers man

This will help visualise.

Like roll cage spreader plates. Weld a big bit of thck metal onto the thin body. Then the structure welds to the thicker “spreader plate”.

I'd be doing the seat rails the way @Tomotek has done his FIA rated ones.

Tonight I've made extra supports for the seat mounts based on the above advice. Thanks for that guys, appreciate the comments.

And I've tidied up the conversion harness taping it up and getting it in a position thst looks good.

Began removing some plastics ready to begin mounting the roll cage and mocking that up.

The original harness bar is ridiculously thin and tack welded which is not ideal. I am going to use it as a reference so I can attach the hood clip when the hood is down, can see it in the middle of the bar when fitted to the car. I'll remove it from that bar and weld it on to the delicious 45mm CDS harness tube when it arrives.

This week I'll also be finishing the header tank and making some more fitting for the oil pressure gauges.

I drilled and tapped the sandwich plate but it was at a s**t angle so leaked. Went in the bin what a waste of £35. I've ordered another sandwich plate but with a thermostatic valve in it to help warm the oil up and not over cool it.

Ordered a quaife gear knob and the harnesses tonight. Gone with trs harnesses which I'm really happy about as they keep their money and they look beautiful. Should look great in the car.

Few weeks now and it'll be driveable I'm sure.

Off on holiday in a few weeks I hope the Mrs knows I've spent all my money on harnesses and cage material.

Suspension is back on and all bolts copper slipped. I've fitted the rear bumper and began mocking up the tailpipe.

I'm having a centre exit which will be 3" and I got a say, I'm very happy with the look of it.

In my head I wondered if it would look a bit minging but it actually looks really purposeful.

Will be finishing it off tomorrow no doubt with @Akay

Another evening another car night. @Akay came over tonight to help with my tip. Had to fondle it to get it in the right position quite a bit but in the end we got it and not only did it look right but it also felt right.
We then began on the exhaust exit pipe which went well.

Mega happy with it. Tomorrow I'll be finishing the welds on it as it's just tacked.

The horn arrived so fitted that to the wheel.

Harnesses have arrived and they look awesome.

Mate a t piece for the oil cooler temperature and pressure gauge as I wasn't happy teeing into the sandwich plate as it leaked a bit. This seems way more robust.

Fitted the gear knob and wrapped the O2 sensor nicely. Little things thst make a big difference overall I reckon.

No idea when the cage stuff is arriving which is annoying. Supplier is being quiet so maybe it won't be this Sunday afterall @leeds2592 :/

Well mucho progress made, this is much easier than the manifold as expected haha

Got the tube in at the angle I want. Welded the feet onto them, drilled holes in the floor ready for welding and that!

Making use of the angle finding machine which is just absolutely incredible. Haven't used it in anger yet but for referencing each angle it's amazing.

Made mine and ethans lives easier on Sunday now as all we need to do is the final bits etc.
