Looks great. Was that advertised on here?
Thank you, 6ft test it’s fine but when you get up close you start to notice little bits.
No it was sent to me via the book of face, a few messages back an forth throughout the day and I set off for Derby at half 5 an got back at 2am!
Looks good. What do you have planned for it?
Sort the niggly things out, change brake fluid, get some 15s an try it on track. Long term boost or bodies...

So I’ve been going through the history of the BG and came across this receipt and graph.
Wasn’t this the guy who did a few people over and kept there cars an done all sorts of things or am I confusing it with someone else.
3hrs mapping an made 6.5bhp and 3.4ft lbs...
Think I’m going to have to get it down to ED to see what’s going on!!

Yeah that's him. Started off well and went to s**t iirc
Thought it was, I’ll have to go through the car with a fine tooth comb then! haha
Had a bit of a afternoon on the BG swapping out the rear back boxes, like for like but the fresh fitted is newer and better condition.

Need to get a couple of powerflex mount as I know the oem ones won’t hold up long.
Also stripped some of the sticky plastics to treat and try clean up, the cup holder is a right state!

Sooo being a budget build I’ve managed to source some free parts...
16mm spacers for the front with the 14mm minimum depth required to fit on the hub.
Already have the longer bolts left over from the turbo 🤣
C9519BA5-7B0B-43CF-A524-E8197943C7A4.jpeg

These stub axel spacers were thrown in by the previous owner, I just need to source the flanged nyloc and then these will be going on
BB5B3055-FC07-4EFC-AFBB-7B196C70C556.jpeg

Finally it was noted that I had a judder under low speed breaking which has turned out to be a snapped abs ring. I was given this also but am sure there is two types so can anyone confirm the difference and which is needed please. I thought it was to do with the amount of raised bits or width???

After an initial mind melt yesterday to do with the rear hub I promptly got on with the job in hand fitting of the stub axel spacers

I had been soaking the nuts in penetration fluid and they come undone rather easily.
I had heard of horror stories about the torx head but can honestly say they gave me no trouble at all. I think it sits so much nicer now with the 16/10mm combo compared to stock.

Just need to sort the belts and dephaser out an we should be ready for the road.

Like fooook! 🤮

I had some Turinis before an sold them to my mate, orange granted but mint tires £375...
He now wants £400 without tires and £500 with and the tires that are the wrong size for Clio. For that sort of cash I’d rather spend extra an get the 2118s.

Another little update though...
Fabia splitter ordered to collect Friday from the local Skoda dealer, A set of ph1 rear lights which should be here Monday hopefully and finally I ordered a 197/200 style RS badge for £4 from AliExpress which should be here by end of July! 🤦🏻‍♂️

How much is a skoda splitter these days? Is that one of those Renaul sport badges you've ordered? 🤣

I know not everyone likes the ph1 lights on a ph2 but I cannot stand the chrome blob in the middle of the lights and after testing fitting I hate it even more! 🤣

Got a bit of pin swapping to make them work properly but that shouldn’t take too much effort. Still waiting on the “Renaul Sport” badge from Ali Express to arrive though.

The ph1 lights are in, so much better looking than the ph2 imo.
I couldn’t be bothered swapping pins as it meant the main light/brake light would be at the top of the light instead of bottom and I wasn’t keen on that before. This time I carefully notched the ph1 light where the bulb holder fouled and it went straight in. I also swapped the main bulb for an twin led to match the top brake light but may change this back as yet.

Afternoon!
Been a bit quiet of late on here due to working 3/3 rota but finally I’m pleased to say that the clio is all legal and on the road. I took it out this morning for a shake down run and have found a few issues which need adressing before any major engine work can commence.
Having said that I was planning on boosting the bg but the n/a noise is crazy!! What are my options power wise keeping n/a??
197 cams, injectors and map see me up around 190-195bhp?
Bodies and 428 cam see me above 200bhp?
As previously said the car is due belts so now is the ideal time to drop some in.
What are bodies like to live with? I know how turbo clios are like… not much different. Where as I’ve heard bodies constantly need checking and tweaking depending on seasons etc, not 100% on that statement though.
Any help info would be gratefully received.

In other news I fitted the Skoda splitter in between showers today and have new clean number plates on order.

Mine is running Atpower bodies, larger injectors and various other bits. Efi mapped the car and it made 202hp. I'd say your estimates are spot on.

Drives great and sounds fantastic. If your heading to C&M on the 24th your more than welcome to try it.

Thanks for the offer but I won’t be there 😥
Having looked more into the costs vs power boost comes out on top each time 🤔

Today’s task was tackling the the absolutely horrific front seatbelts! Which ever Renault designer thought silver seat belts would look good needs a good slap! 😂
So on with the task at hand…
376BC26F-A8D8-46AD-8F32-BC2F1848C044.jpeg

Below is the comparison with part of the belt which doesn’t usually get pulled out.
12835AE6-E9D9-4E0F-9D5A-6267A2CD09CC.jpeg

I went with the standard super hot water and Vanish Oxi Action Crystal White powder.
5920B2B6-E5C0-4DC8-B7CE-B963328D8AB9.jpeg

The belts were left to soak for around 15-20mins and given a good scrub with a nail brush. They were so dirty it started to change the foam yellow.
87A4C5BD-C00A-42BD-9ABA-CE272DF1BCBE.jpeg
Eagle eyed among you may spot the difference on the front end 🤦🏻‍♂️
B90AFB0E-F8FA-43C4-A5AA-396371AA8D30.jpeg

The final step after scrubbing was to use the pressure washer to rinse clean. I could see the remaining dirt/grim running out of the belts, I then left them out to dry for a couple hours only leaving a couple of toughened dirt spots.

Overall I’m very happy with how they came out considering how they started! The backs don’t need doing as they are not too bad. Think I’ll be looking to source some black 172 belts in the future so that’ll be added to the every growing list of things I need/want to do to this 182.

So ordered so powerflex mounts yesterday at half 3 in the afternoon, arrived 9:00 this morning! Quality service!
7854DDA5-AEE5-43EC-BF6D-04A791D07D5D.jpeg

The mounts on the car were only a couple months old but had already started to perish.
B0391D13-AE70-498B-B4AD-BBDCE6426DAC.jpeg

I’d forgotten how simple these are to fit making sure I got enough of the old rubber out.
B0305E5D-BFCB-492A-8B3E-2CFDD4FE5227.jpeg

A bit of fairy liquid to help slide in and using a vice… fitted perfect!
F0A488BF-FDD4-42FC-BCAB-D447E983714A.jpeg

Removed, changed and back on the car all within 30-45mins if that.

Very happy with how they’re sitting atm and overall pleased with the whole backend, the cheap badge, fresh plates and ph1 lights really changed it all. Only thing bugging me is the number plate bulb holder but will be ordering one from @renaultpartsdirect soon!

Not much been happening to car of late as working away 3 weeks at a time! 😥
I recently changed the rear mounts for Powerflex ones but for some reason it keeps pulling the back box further under the bumper as seen in the pic below…
AC256F7A-4B6D-45DE-A489-A0046D8144F3.jpeg

I have tried a couple of time now undoing the mid-back box clamp and moving it back out but it keeps doing it!!

Today, thanks to @fil_b I finally got around to fitting an engine cover. I brought the car without and I know it’s not essential but I had to have one on there. After talikng to @Porl I got my bolts from a company called m.a.d design or mydlan or something like that on eBay. One of the short bolts was shorter than the other and the longer bolts bottomed out before nipping down. Thankfully I had some spares to washers to take up the space. So if anybody has oem bolts? Send me a dm!
5E9DBFAD-FE5F-47A7-B1FF-E317133367ED.jpeg

Headlights clearly noticeable insert colour, not sure if I should try source another black one or just order two new halogen ones for like £80-90.

Sit Rep…
Done absolutely naff all with the clio whilst I been deciding what to do with the 182 and Meg. As a result of this deliberation the Megane is going to make way for a better family car (already have a Tiguan which will be sold) and the Clio will be staying to be the toy. I’m very much undecided which way to take the Clio build currently. I was planning on boosting this Clio like the Monaco I had buuuuuuut the n/a noise is so addictive when pushing on!!
I do have a full belt kit to go on still, so thinking of dropping in some 197 cams and injectors in with a fresh map!? if not just get the belts done and save for boost!? or third option is souce a 2nd engine and have a go at building it all myself. Any input and ideas or opinions would be greatly received.
In other news, I have sourced some freshly refurbished turini’s sporting 205/45/16 Rainsport 5s which have next to no miles on them. Hopefully pick these up before I go back to work if not it’ll have to wait 3 weeks.
I also still have an ABS ring to do along with fitting my brass bushes supplied by @plees which I’ve read good things about.
Have a pic of the cars soaking up some sun, the Clio is now sporting the T90 plate and the Megane is standard after removing all parts though. Hopefully next update I’ll have some better news!! 👍🏻

Had some time to tinker with the Clio this morning so decided to have ago at fitting the @plees brass bushes and sort a couple of other issues that had been bothering me.
1CD5659C-4B6F-4D79-8BD7-6BFD2D65C635.jpeg

1st issue was trying to sort the position of the exhaust between the two outlets. I’ve managed to get it to somewhere I’d like it to be so hopefully it’ll stay this time.
2nd job was the bushes.
Issue number one was the retaining bolts were all heavily corroded so I ended up folding back the heat shield to gain access. Next was fitting the bushes themselves. I tried them on the selector arm 1st which was ok but when it came to fitting in the gearstick part they wouldn’t fit properly even though all the parts were free from debris. I ended up using a nut & bolt to draw them in evenly which worked well.
244E2598-8C4C-45F3-B0BF-7007F1879608.jpeg

C4785558-B446-4377-928A-F5E40BF9D36E.jpeg

All fitted back up, shift was tight. Worked the stick around and took for a test drive an it was all good. One of the othe niggles were that the lower front bumper was missing the two bolts in the middle meaning it flapped about which was easily sorted.

It'll look even better on turini's 😉.
Thanks to @Lewi86 I am now in the possession of some turinis…
8EBDCF0F-5A11-4E23-A563-1114583BB8A0.jpeg

Mint condition after a recent refurb and virtually brand new Uniroyal Rainsport 5s! 👍🏻

As the bolts fitted are bit mix an match with head sizes and finishes I pulled the trigger on some @pure-motorsport stud and nuts.
F674DB66-2D82-4C62-9F7F-45E127CD8C2F.jpeg

I’ve gone 82mm up front and 68mm rear as I want them to look like they have even threads left. I’ve read that the fronts have to go through the disc and that because I run a 16mm spacer that would be right.
If not and it looks odd, I’ll order longer rears.

Finally I’ve picked up a pair of 2nd hand fog lights packaged in the best packaging I’ve ever had for a used item.
1B6CD9AD-00C7-42CD-ADF6-12BE5288CA3E.jpeg

Just need to give them a little clean up and get these fitted as mine are in a very poor state internally.

Been busy on the BG the last couple of days.
1st off fitted the PMS stud kit yesterday. Cleaned all the old copper slip away, taped out the holes and used brake cleaner to make sure there wasn’t any residue left.
Using supplied loctite fitted bolts and torqued to 20nm. It’s said on the fitting guide to leave for 3hrs but I left them over night.
D7E2308E-5E7C-45F7-8148-B0868A113016.jpeg

This morning the turini’s went on with 16mm hubcentric spacers up front and torqued the nuts to 110nm. I’ve done a few miles this morning so just need to recheck them.

I’m not completely sold on them yet but hopefully they’ll grow on me.
Final job was fitting the fog lights I purchased from @RenaultRy as one of mine was super rusty inside.
