hi

my flatmate keeps going on how his car is so much better than mine but i prefer mine just because i like the looks and it is faster, his cant even reach 100mph. he says he got 105mph but vw say max speed is 97.

i have a 1.2 16v dynamique 2002
he has 1.2 3 pot 12v 2010 polo.

he truly believes he has the better car.

which car is better considering his car is 10x more expensive than mine

It's hard to say this without sounding condescending but you're arguing over 1.2s FFS! They're both slow!

I remember test driving a 1.2 Clio a few years ago. It was a fun wee beastie. Not quick by any means but it felt lively. Like a go-kart feels lively.

Not even been in a Polo for decades but I can't imagine a 3 cylinder 1.2 modern car with all it's weightiness isn't gonna be much fun.

If it were my money I'd be looking at the Clio (Assuming I was being held at gunpoint, forced into choosing one of the two).

that is is exactly what i was getting at, the clio is fun and cheap!!

As stated previously it depends on the definition of better!!

In terms of the definition it could be speed, value, reliability, build quality etc etc.

List 10 factors, play top trumps!!!

DB.

  BMW 440i
They're both slow

His is less plasticy, rattly etc.

His will be better built, but it cost more.

Likewise, If you went and spent more you could get a BMW.

I would rather the Polo over a Clio!

Polos the better car. Both are slow and very little fun so I know which i'd rather get from A to B in.

Definitely the polo is the better car!

When it comes to comparing 1.2 hatches performance doesn't come in to it.

The fact his is worth more makes it a better car IMO! If I had a house which was worth £100000 and a mate had a house worth £1000000 I wouldn't say mine is better just because its cheaper!

  soon to be 182 ;)
this thread is epic, have to agree on the clio being better value, but the polo is probably nicer as its a new car

only one way to find out, take it to the streets, joke

but in all seriousness your clio will shake itself apart before the polo even starts to have problems

Although polo would be more reliable in terms of age, would go for the clio just as they are fun little cars and prob not as expensive when it goes wrong. If it was a golf that would be a different story (but still very expensive) :)

  Inferno 182 & Saxo
8 year old car vs car less than a year old. VW will just keep on going hence they hold their value well. No contest imo

Its not how you stand by your car, its how you race your car.
Ask any racer here, it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning.

Wise words.
You need to sort your issues on the street. Not by racing, by pi$$ing on each other, 1st one to 'empty the tank' is the winner. - a pointless exercise you might say? A bit like your question. Which is better - my dad or yours?
