My little trip to Renault!

  1 Series Coupe
There was a Black Gold 182 with both cup packs on the forecourt for £10999, with 14,000 miles on the clock. All wheels majourly curbed, aerial ripped off and a scratch on the re quarter. :dead:

I asked the guy how much they would give me on a trade in for my 03 1.2 with 17000 miles on the clock. After looking at my car, he went into the back and spoke to the boss. He came out with a figure of £2800.

The guy said that all the faults will be sorted on the 182 and he could do the car for £10250. I said that i could buy a mint Trophy for that kind of money and he said the "182FF is a better car than the 182 Trophy"?

I have now decided to put my 1.2 back to standard and sell it to my mum for £4000 (what she offered) and buy a 182 privatly!

What do you guys think?

Matt

I would do as you said, return it to standard and sell to your mum. i'm sure no dealer would give you 4k for it. you'll get a much better car private if you put a bit of effort into looking.

  ITB'd 182...
would be the best by the sounds of it.
the stealers would sell it for that if they had it off you anyway

  RB 182
Bunch of clowns in there so it doesn't supprise me.

Contact Steve at All Vehicles and see if he can help you out, very decent guy.

Looking at getting one soon then?

Where is All Vehicles Ben?

Yep, i can finally get insured on one for a reasonable price! Doesn't need to be Black Gold, i really like the Artic Blue too!

Cracking stuff. Selling to family is the least hassle, I find. There's that level of trust there that eliminates all the buyer/seller banter, haggling and sharp intakes of breath through their teeth.

But yeah, bit of a steep price for the 182. Shouldn't think you'd have to look too far to find a private sale 182 for less than 7k, or around 8k from a dealer. Enjoy! I'd love to be out in mine all day every day, but I can't afford that much petrol lol.

Buying privately is a great idea if you can invest the time to look properly and find one that is totally mint.

I bought my 182 from a dealer on the (perhaps misplaced) hope that i would get piece of mind and come back should anything go wrong.
However, as soon as you've taken the car off the forecourt, they really don't give a stuff and will do all they can to avoid putting things right. The main benefit i got from the dealer was a used car warranty which is helpful.

I'll probably go private next time though.

I've got a budget of about 8.5k for a 182. Not in a rush, and am looking out for the 'right' one!

any car you notice damaged at a dealers walk away from very quickly, all they will do is call in a smart repairer who will do a quick bodge job on it at minimal cost to get it shifted off the forecourt.

when i was going ot buy the mini i first put a deposit on a 2 year old s works on my second visit to the dealers with my details a new scratch had appeared right down one door, i canceled the order there and then!

also another one that made me laugh was when me and a mate went to look at a 206 which had a full ecosse body kit on it (we didnt want to buy it we just fancied a laugh) every panel needed work on it, there were key marks on one door which someone had tried to machine polish out but at the same time had taken most of the paint with it, where the kit joined onto the car was all cracked too, the dealer said the valeters would sort all the paint out if we bought it (our reply was it'll need more than a valeter to replace missing paint!)

Yep as said buy privately, the prices of 182's seems to be coming down all the time, there are what look to be some bargains on PH lately.

I've said it before and i'll say it again....Renaultsport need to set up separate dealers from the mainstream Renaults.
That or at least have specially trained sales people who know the product beyond merely the specs and figures!

The amount of sales guys who have little or no car knowledge is untrue!
It may be ok when they are selling a Grand Scenic to Mr and Mrs Kids-R-Us but when it comes to answering questions from Renaultsport owners, often they fall flat!

  Clio 182
Always sell private if you can, dealers are like sharks how they skulk around your motor. I had a 1.8RSi and when i asked what i could trade it in for they offered me £400, i know it was old but C'mon. Anyways i sold it private for a grand!
As far as Trophys Vs FF, well in my humble opinion it depends what you'r after i am the proud owner of a 182FF i like the cruise control and air con, i dont think the Trophy has many luxurys, forgive me if i am wrong. but it depends what you like and i like my creature comforts!:)

Do a couple of track days, use it more matey...i wouldn't be letting it go, its probably the best kept 182 in the UK.

You'll regret it!!

Agreed charlie boy..

For example: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=290291

Absolute peach that!!

Only on CS will you find one at that abnormally low price . Everywhere else expect to pay around 9 - 9.5k for 55 plate if it's in good condition .

Why do people always under value their cars on here . It's beyond me

I went into a a Renault delearship to test drive a 172 before I bought mine. After "asking the boss" about a deal, they offered me £3750 to change up. I said I'd consider it at £2500, and after "consulting with the boss", they agreed straight away....

£1250 off their offer just like that  . I still walked away and got a better deal elsewhere...... :rasp:
