Need your help !!!

As some of you will know, I recently wrote off my mint (44k) Blue Valver. I only owned her for a couple of months and paid £3.4k due to the low millage and full Renault service history. The insurance company have just sent me a letter saying that the Inspector has valued the car @ £1900. You can imagine my dismay, so i phoned up the inspector and after asking him if hed had a recent eye test I proceeded to explain that i could have sold the car quite easily before the accident for the same value for what i paid, due to its mint condition and its hot hatch status. (After all i got £3k for my old 1.4rt a few weeks prior and that had 70k on the clock.
The inspector was very apologetic but said that glasss The price guide they use actually rates the valver @ £1600 and he had added £300 because of the mint condition.

However once i mentioned that i was a member of the cliosport club and that many of the members have insurance with L&V. He became most helpfull and sugested i send him some current prices of Valvers for sale of the same condition and another guide Parkers for example. I have already run a search on Autotrader and this confirms my thoughts that low millage valvers like mine fetch around the 3k mark. If anyone can offer any assistance then i would appreciate it as this will no doupt help all valver owners in the long run dealing with L&V Insurance. A letter from the Chairman would probably sway the decision (if your listening Jas!;))

Just look through the For Sale forum, copy and paste all the Current for sale Valvers with official dates and produce a mini report explaing the current market conditions.

Likewise with autotrader.

Yeah £2100 for private sale but even this is better than £1600

Thanks for the help keep it coming i will need it if im to take on the establishment. If i am sucessfull then it will give other people regardless of model clio a cause for complaint!

Glasss base the prices on what the cars would fetch at an auction then add a bit more on for private sales, they arent always correct for private sales. and Glasss is usually sh*te for cars over 5 years old as their prices seem to get really out of date.

WHY DONT YOU TELL THE GUY TO GO AND GET YOU ONE AT THAT PRICE THEN if that is what he thinks it is worth!!

Perhaps you could search online at http://www.autotrader.co.ukwww.autotrader.co.uk and copy and paste adverts for similar cars then print off a copy for the guy!!

I think the best thing you can do is get average prices from a variety of places that sell cars, such as this forum, loot, auto trader and exchange and mart. After all, they are real world prices and not Glass Guide made up prices. Remember, you have to keep bartering with the insurance guys, after all, they are on the side of the insurance company. They usually have several more offers up their sleeve, just keep refusing to accept them till youre happy.

A few years ago I wrote off a Rover 200Vi. My insurance company offered me £6k for it, which was a lot better than I would have got selling it or trading it in.

During one call to my insurance company they had let slip that they had set aside £6.5k for me, all I had to do was justify it. They said if I could produce proof that the car was worth more than they offered Id get the money. Unfortunately for me I couldnt as the offer was already very good.

If assume they have already seen the service history and any receipts? All these things will help. As has already been said, find a similar car for sale and show them that. Sounds like they are fairly happy to take notice of these things.

Hope you get it sorted.
