Neighbour has hit my car. Unsure of action to take.

So a couple weeks ago, a neighbour drove their ratty Corsa into the front of my Clio. They haven't bothered to mention it, or file an insurance claim or anything. I am in a bit of a pickle.

I dont know what to do, as my car is registered as being parked in a different city as I've only just moved here. The accident happened when I was visiting beforehand.

I may or may not have some modifications that my insurer doesn't know about. However the damage is only to the front bumper and not to the rear or where these mods are.

The way the markings are, makes it clear that they are at fault. However without them admitting liability what leg do I have to stand on?

I do have an incident reference number from the date it occurred, but without footage or witnesses I may be stuck.

Further to this, I have just moved again, just a mile away or so from the location of the incident. So my address, today, has changed yet again from the address at which it happened.

So, my question is this: do I have a leg to stand on here at all, or am I best just completing a home spray job on the patch of paint?

I'd speak to the neighbour first and see what they have to say. If you can't prove it 100% then it is not worth pursuing or the aggravation of increased premiums etc.

Mods and address are completely irrelevant in a non-fault claim as you only need to notify your insurer of the incident. After this, you go directly to your neighbours insurance company and instigate a claim.

From the somewhat low quality image, I expect that a large portion of that would polish out by machine leaving the deeper scratches.

No reason you can't still claim, but my sympathy just shot through the floor when you said you have undeclared mods.

Without witnesses or cctv you'll never prove it was your neighbour I'm afraid.

Sort the damage out yourself and get your insurance sorted!

Oh and a quick word of warning. If you get stopped by old bill who check with your insurance re your modifications, you risk having your car seized, points on your license and a hefty fine.
