New car - Golf GTI content

Well the 182 was sold at the weekend. The money was supposed to be going into a savings account to put towards a deposit on a mortgage for myself and the other half.

After giving it a serious thought, I decided I couldn't live with a shed for 2 years or so (which is how long its going to take to save the £13~14K of the deposit :dapprove: )

After scowering the internet for a week or so, I came across a really tidy Golf GTI, which I have always really liked.

After the coilover'd clio I wanted something abit more refined, and dare I say it, better built? lol

So to cut a short story long, I have just put a deposit down on this:

It has a full VW service history which was a bonus, would have liked 18's but that can be sorted out via the eBay lol

(Excuse the crappy "dealer photos" ;) )

Thanks for looking, Matt.

Nice car mate.. Very fast with intercooler, miltek and re-map like my mates was! Good for 160mph + (on autobhan) ftw lol

Plans are to keep it standard apart from colour coding the rear bumper, 18's when money allows and thats it. Ive decided modding a car is a mugs game, it ruins your car 99% of the time and its like burning money lol

Very nice mate :)

Bring it to a meet so you can take us for a spin :D

Cant believe the rears aren't cc'd though, they are on the r32's though arent they?

Yeah I will do mike, hopefully ile be bringing it to the lakes drive so ile take you for a spin! Yeah I was looking into a map Dave, 250bhp for £400 can't be overlooked. Just the cost of a new clutch puts me off the map...

It'll be fine. The Ed30 30 has 230bhp out of the box, with 300 a map away, & they handle it fine apparently.

If you're that worried about it, just get the torque reduced slightly :)

This will be my next car too. Love them!
Had a MK5 TDi before the 182. Yeah it was slow, but it was so solid, comfy and reliable.
Did 34K in 2 years, never missed a beat!

When you colour code the rear bumper, don't get the full thing done. Just the top section! Like this:

I like the golfs. Just cost alot more money than a clio. Are they faster ? I dont know nothing about them ?

Sam!

Yeah it was a bit of a crazy decision tbh, but me and the gf are going to combine cars in the comming year so it will work out for the best. Her Mini will have to go (its not the most practical car in the world) lol

Thats the colour-coding I'm going for, looks crap when all the bumper is done...

Going to get the car a major service in the next month or so, then I'll look into mapping it.

My mate has a APR map on his Polo GTI, seems to pull very well...

My mate just bought one of these, it is a very nice car. Have the same engine in my Seat, and iam very pleased with it.

  TTRS & V50
I like these, driven a couple and I'd certainly have one if I had the dollar. Seats are epic too, comfy and tartan ;)

Always look better in person than photos though.

Ali, yeah it's Tornado red and it does look better in the metal

Chris, sorry mate it needed to go, time for a change! You just weren't quick enough lol

Definatly not lowering it, I was a comfey ride now I'm getting older lol, although 18's are in the to do list :)

To go? No chance. I know of 8 mates with remapped vags and none have problems. Tbh as standard the turbo only runs about 8psi..lol

That's lovely mate but I must withstand the urge to mod lol
The gf will be using is eventually so it needs to still be "woman friendly" lol
That's good news about the turbo. Been doing abit of research and the bluefin seems a good package, being able to remove the map when needed etc

  None
Matt that's not an A3 :rasp:

Nice car though mate, my old mk2 golf was tornado red too, wicked colour on a golf.

can't wait to see it at some meets but if you think i'm drag racing a mapped golf at york you can sod off......you made me look bad enough in the RB ;)

R Tech are generally considered the best for maps on vags now.

Everyone know modded vags make more money..lol
