New paint , getting a shine?

Recently been fixing my bumper, fibre glass, smoothed ... all sprayed etc... was about 5 coats of primer, 4-5 coats of black colour.. and 2 of laquer.

However, it just doesnt shine as much as the other part of the bumper... so I bought some compound today and applied that by hand... it "feels" alot better, but still hasnt got that "shine!" ?

id say more lacquer and maybe wetflat with something really fine then polish it again afterwards.

you want get it to "shine" by hand. either take it back to the place you had it sprayed and ask them to blend it in, so it looks like the rest of your car. or get a machine polisher and and use the compound with the machine.

you need to wetsand it so that it is completely flatted, and then you can machine it back to a shine. will be exactly the same as your normal paint if you do it well.

^^how wil it end up exsactly the same as old paintwork? you'll never get it perfect. yes, flatting the paintwork would be the best option but i wouldnt like to flat the whole bumper myself if i didnt know what i was doing.

if you used single pack lacquer it will always dull down ,if you used 2k lacquer it prob just needs a good flat and polish to bring it up.

he wont have to do the entire bumper. only the new section, and the surrounding area.

and yes, you will get it as close to perfect as possible if you put enough time into the sanding and polishing back.
