  wanting a 172
alright folks
im on the hunt for a decent 172 and have seen one that has taken my eye and willing to do a p/x deal with my golf.
i was therefore wondering if you guys/girls (dont want to be sexcist :rasp:) can help me.
first thing is it's a phase 2 95k on an 02 plate.
it was originally a cat d having a bit of a front end bump new headlight bumper driver's side wind and grille being needed.
firstly what sort of price would you put on it? it has the following mods
it has 17 inch multi spokes in fair condition,
cat back stainless powerflow system
a jr performance air filter costing
it looks in good condition.

is there anything i should look out for is 95k miles a bit higher?
Any help truly grateful
sorry for the long post:dead:
regards
Andy

If its been serviced and looked after 95k isnt a problem.
Wheels wise, 17's are a bit of a no no on here, always roll with 16s or even 15s.
Whats the price? Any pics?

Hmm, tricky one.

Mileage is never an issue if it has the service history to back it up, but expect to have to replace parts as they wear out. Things like steering arms, track rod ends, springs, shocks, etc will all need doing in due course if they haven't already.

Cat D is always risky too, as the previous owner will always make it sound like it was a small bump. True, these cars aren't worth a great deal now, but I'd expect more damage than just a wing, grille and headlight replacement to mean a write-off.

If the belts need doing then it's overpriced IMO - you could get a 95k phase 2 with all servicing done without the insurance write-off for around £3k nowadays.
