Newbie thinking of jumping ship

  Celica ST182
First off i'll say that i have been into Japanese cars for quite some time now, but a recent problem with my current Gen 5 Celica GT has pushed me to breaking point, so much so that i'm looking elsewhere for a daily driver

This kind of led me to looking at Clio's as i really like the 2.0 N/A engine in my Celica, and there aren't a great deal of sporty 2.0 N/A about

Anyway, budget wise i would be looking at £2000 tops, and after a few searches on ebay, it looks like i should be able to pick up a 172 for £2000 or under

My big question is, what sort of condition 172 would it be for that price, and are there any major problems that need checking on the facelift 172's

Obviously coming from the supposedly more reliable Japaneses cars, it's a bit of daunting prospect choosing a French motor (sorry, don't want to offend anyone )

Cheers

To be honest its all down to how much the person wants rid of the car..

I paid 2k for my clio (imo i got a bargain) But i have also seen them at like 2.5k and they arent in the best shape!!

Make sure what ever you buy that the belts have been done

Cheers, are there any major weak points on the 172's then, rust etc

Also, what are the intervals for the timing belt?
