Not starting!

Ok, so i know there are plenty other threads out there like this but juts to be sure i want to post mine too.

So when i put the key and turn it everything lights up (as it should) Then when i go to turn the engine on it just ticks over, does not engage at all.

I have a new battery and still the problem consists.

Please does anybody have any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks!

The last time you drove it were there any problems ?

If not Start with the basics. Are you getting fuel pressure and spark, does it sound like it is spinning over faster than normal ?

It's not even spinning over by sounds of it.

You can get a big bar and try and give it a hit as it may be stuck. It's a bit or an arse to change if your bit handy with tools as access isn't the best.

  Whichever has fuel
When you put the key in and turn the ignition on, what is the red light doing in the middle of the clocks?

If it's staying on, you have an immobiliser issue.

Pull a plug out, stick it in the end of the HT lead and hold the plug against a decent earth on the car. Get someone to crank the engine, you should have a strong blue spark.

So i finally got it going. I just made sure all the connections were tight, cleaned everything up and hit the starter motor gently. Tried the key and it worked.

Is it a good or bad thing?

Glad you got it working, just to answer your question for other reader in the future, a spark is what your looking for. No spark would mean an electrical fault somewhere. If it had a spark and still didn't fire up, then its probably starvation of fuel (i.e fuel pump). This is providing the engine is turning over ok, just not firing.
