How do these fair on weekend and occasional use cars? Do they hold charge ok?

Mine is fine (redtop 25) and when it's not in use its plugged into a c-tek battery conditioner.

I would imagine so mate. Mine gets drained (slightly) by the alarm, but its never been enough that it won't start or struggles to start.

Hmm very tempted. I'm a bit worried it wouldn't do with the leccy mirrors, windows and radio.

I know a few people who run the 25's on ac equipped 1*2's without issue mate.

I ran a oddessey for a good while on the meg, great little thing they do struggle in winter though, I have a trickle charger now though for my next one.

I've got one in my FF 182. No issues so far and I barely use it. I do have a cut off switch though but I've not been using that much either.

Varley Red Top 25. I've only had it fitted for a month or so though, so can't comment on it over winters etc. Car probably gets turned on or used once or twice in a two week period at the moment.

They are the same as the Rally Design ones. Not sure if they are the same as the Varley and Odyssey but the materials are the same and the weights, sizes, amps etc. are all around the same figure.

I use a golf trolley battery in my mx5.

it has elec windows and stereo still and works fine.

The car is always left monday- Friday sometimes for 2weeks. Always starts fine!

It was also only about 30quid!

Just ordered my Haze 12v 18AH SLA battery from Rapid Electronics. £40 posted

As for the mounting cage the battery size is identical to the Varley Redtop 25

I know i'm opening an old thread!! but how are people getting on with their redtop batteries or odyssey batteries in these cold conditions? my car struggled this morning! I have around a 20 mins drive too and from work - monday to friday. Very rarely used at weekends in the winter.

Mine's been ok, but I leave it disconnected with a solar charger on it. And then its only a 30 second job to connect it again.

Tom, where did you buy the battery terminals? I'm considering the gel battery from rapid online @£41. But the terminals are M5 as opposed to M6 on the varley and oddyssey batteries. I'm struggling to find any M5 online.

They come with M5 bolts so I just have M6 eyelets on the cables.
