It's fine if you take the fuel rail guard off... pretty much impossible to do without doing that though (unless you're a thin wristed female) so he must have done.

I got mine off just by twisting really hard by hand wearing rubber gloves.

You really shouldn't need to pay someone to do this. Harvey price could do it with basic instructions. There's a guide on here.

As above, remove the fuel rail guard and it's easy.

Meh to fuel rail guard removal. Stop being cack-handed gays and get a filter removal tool.

Heres a hypothetical question for every one.

You're buying a car, and the guy says, its been serviced 12,000 miles (or 6,000 as I have been doing)... I do it myself, here's all the receipts for the bits... and he obviously knew what he was talking about and could talk you through it etc etc. Is that still a 'FSH' or would you expect some money off as it hasn't been garage serviced?

I have the same concerns about the stamps in book as Austin-182 but have just been doing mine anyway.

Proper service every 12 months, stamped.

Mini oil change at 6k, do it yourself, just keep receipt in folder and mark the date you did it.

that's not a proper history really, and when the car is still relatively new (under 10 years) is will effect the value. Receipts for parts tell you nothing about who has done the work

depends, if its a £2-£4K clio its not the end of the world, if its a £40K audi its a different story, non of my cars have any service history but the get looked after (apart from the S60, that thing is bullet proof!)

Gah that's annoying. I kinda guessed it would but hoped not.

I do the 12k service myself with genuine parts and Silkolene & oil change every 6k... about to change the front pads myself (again genuine Reno)... get anything more major done at a specialist.

Oh well, not looking to sell for 2ish years. Probably be worth pennies by then.

I genuinely don't think it would make any difference on a car of that age. Keep every receipt for parts etc used, all in a folder.

I tend to do my oil change myself as it's pretty easy, but I don't need any more history with my car,
at some point it will be a track car so I don't plan on selling it,
an 8 year old 172 with 75k miles on it doesn't seem to sell for much these days.

I allways say im going to keep it forever but at the same time i just like the fact of having my service book full with regular stamps, i supose having reciepts is better than not keeping them at all
I have a folder with reciepts of everything ive bought for the car even including reciepts for bulbs lol

Only a gimp would make a fuss over that type of comprehensive history. I can get a renault stamped service book within 1 week, so the stamps really mean very little on an old car.

5 year isnt realy that old though is it? Personaly if i had to decide between a car with history and one without i know which one id go for
