Oil level indicator

  LY R26 #288
Just noticed in the past couple of days when I start the car it doesnt come up with 'oil ok' anymore, it just goes straight to the mileage.

Anyone have any ideas why its not doing it?. Should it come up evertime you start it? even when hot?.

switch your cruise control / speed limiter switch to the middle "off" position.

Mine did this not long after I got it when I started it on a slope of any kind and just showed as a line of dashes. I found that I could turn the ignition off, take the dipstick out and put it back in again and it would clear and show as oil ok so was obviously because the oil was too low even though it was mid level so I just topped the oil up and it's been ok ever since (fingers crossed lol)

And how is this, in any shape, answering the question posed?
Read your manual as you should know the dashes indicate low level, not that it isn't working at all as was posted!
I have the same problem i.e. the OIL OK display always showed with the ignition to position 2, that was until recently when it began disappearing every now and then, and now does not show at all, at any time when turning the ignition on and instead going straight to the total mileage AS JRS wrote (not that I don't understand what it is telling me when it is clearly working as posted above...:nono:).

Any info on this? Cheers.

Think mine was doing this too when the cruise control button was on as said above

Anyway...DON'T always rely on the dash indicator alone!

You have to depend on BOTH of the dipsticks to check the oil level :slap:

Sorry, also meant to say mine came up at times with nothing but obv you cant rely on the indicator anyway, just annoying when something isnt working as it is intended to!

Its sorted itself now anyway but good to know what was up so if it does it again i know why.

As Tigger and gilmour182 have said it's to do with the cruise control/ speed limiter button being on so im gonna try it out tonight and see if that does make a difference.

In the time i've owned my ph3 non-sport it has never indicated the oil ok message, but I know of everyone else's displays this. I'd really like to get it working if its possible.

Mine seems to be ok now, only thing I have done recenty is an oil & filter change. As said above its annoying when things don't work how they should.
