Oil Top Up

Hello.

The oil level indicator is a couple of dashes down on my Clio 172 mk1.

What oil would you recommend to top it up? It has always been serviced by a Renault dealer. Any idea what they put in it? Should I use synthetic?

i would only use synthetic, but since its a top up, call them and ask them.

5w40-5w50 would nbe pref for me though.

Mobil 1 0W-40
Silkolene Pro S 5W-40
Elf Excellium 5W-40/0W-40
Total Quartz 9000 5W-40
Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40
the Elf/Total stuff is available from there petrol stations, or maybe if your lucky your Ren dealer, Shell you can get from Shell petrol stations, Silkolene you can get from http://www.a-pp.comwww.a-pp.com and the Mobil you can get practically everywhere !....like Motor World / Halfords

i just did my oil change the other day on the valver , i used some mobile1 15 w50 seems to get hotter than my old total 10 w40 oil ;]

seriously, where can you get elf oil? never ever seen it.

i can get Elf oil......ive been given a trade account with them....

I checked their website when mine needed a top-up, and the stuff Renault recommend in the manual is obsolete!
