PC Porter Cable Polisher Importing Guide

Hey, reposting this guide because other one got a little clogged.

For those who dont know, the pc is a random orbit car polisher, it is used on your cars paint, windows, headlights, it gives amazing results safely, the machine is wonderfully easy to use and very safe for your paint, it does not get your paint hot like an orbital polisher, the pc mimicks the movement of your hand. only alot quicker, please do read up on the pc before use though

There are a few on here that have already used this guide and have there new pcs already, and i have only had good feedback about it + some excellent results

all yellow writing contains clickable links

firstly go here to buy

http://store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/clink?autopia+te6Zmk+index.html+CLIOSPORTclicky ,bookmark this link

you can also get cloths, wax etc + the new meguiars range from them

Here you can buy the pc polisher kit ( sonus pad polisher kit), i would buy an extra backing plate ( sonus 5" backing plate), and possibly some extra 6" das pads, also some 4" das spot pads may come in handy (if buying 4" pads you need to buy a 3.5" backing plate.

The shipping will be aprox $60, but that will be very quickly delivered to you (in aprox 3 days), ask them help you with import duties ;)you should not pay import duties if they mark the parcel correctly, also whilst your at it you can use your special discount code that i will give you (pm me, i only do this as the code can often change )

Then sit back an wait for you pc to come.

Whilst waiting for your pc you will need a 110v transformer, extension, and plug, this can be bought from screwfix (clickable links in yellow below)

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=73851&ts=82323transformer £34.99

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp;jsessionid=3MCV1DICZB4H3CJO2C1SIIQ?id=16691&slotName=null&homeRef=&ts=82329&destination=../cat/pro.jsp%3Fid%3D16691%26slotName%3Dnull%26homeRef%3Dextension £9.99

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp;jsessionid=3MCV1DICZB4H3CJO2C1SIIQ?id=19947&slotName=null&homeRef=&ts=82498&destination=../cat/pro.jsp%3Fid%3D19947%26slotName%3Dnull%26homeRef%3Dplug £1.20

plus you get free shipping

When your pc comes you will need to cut of the usa 2 pin plug, you then need to put on the new plug (as above), american black is live, and white is neutral, there is no earth as the cable is double insulated, this is a very easy 2 minute job,so dont worry if you are at all woried about wiring please leave it to an expert

Then you will need to buy yourself some polish/swirl remover, i personally chose meguiars #80 for general swirl removing (known as speed glaze), and #83 (known as dual action polish "DACP") for problem areas (be cautious with this as it has a strong cutting action), you can buy this from, you dont need special waxes etc, as you can use your ordinary polishes with the machine.

http://www.seriousperformance.co.uk/sp/products/polish_wax.php#16serious performance

DONT forget cliosport members get 10% discount

you should really also use some microfibre wipes to remove these products, these can be bought from

http://store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/clink?autopia+te6Zmk+index.html+CLIOSPORTclicky (same time as buying your pc )

or

http://www.pakshak.com/http://www.pakshak.com/ ,(i cant recommend this guy enough),pm me as i can also get you discount from him

Then you will need to do a bit of research on forums like

http://shop.meguiars.co.uk/phpBB2/index.php?sid=c8ddb363ebfee4a7173b5d3553ca11aemeguiars

http://autopia.org/forums/http://autopia.org/forums/

http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2965http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2965

you also should view this site http://bettercarcare.com/articles.php?articleId=47 clicky for a full write up on the pc and its use.

also here is a link http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=49460clicky of a uk detailer also a member on here, WD PRO )who has used a pc on a car in the uk, he used megs #80 and #83, i think you will be amazed by his results, it gives you a good idea of whats possible with a pc, an example of wd pros work below, he used #83 and #80

Why illegal???
only to sell the machine, its ok to import, and the reason is like brazo says "

182 Blue how much is the pc delivered ? Does it come with pads or do you buy these seperatley ?
hey, well the pc kit comes with pads /backing plate, and the total is $200 (aprox £105), discount will also be taken off that total too

Id love to get one but cant afford it atm, maybe later, definalty gives amazing results.

Blink172 ur gonna get it in the neck for ur ignorance lol...

Well, like its been suggested ive read the titles and as its not something i gave a monkeys about i didnt read them.

Get it in the neck, what for? I have no idea what the PC specs are. If they are both random orbital polishers, im just asking why the PC is 5+ times the cost.

lol, cancel this guide, we will all buy that polisher, i wonder why i never bought one from the uk ?

ps the machine you posted will not have the power to remove swirls, and is only 1 speed

oh and the pc on its own costs about £80, so its not 5 times the cost of the one you posted

Guys, i was only asking what made the PC so much more expensive (as an entire kit). Get down off your high horses and answer the question sensibly.

As i explained, ive had no interest in the threads so dont pretend to know the first thing about the polishers. A simple its better because ........... would have done.

i answered your question, look !!!, im also sorry i didnt know it was cs rules that i had to answer you at all, let alone sensibly, perhaps you need to tell others that eh :p

and yes the pc is a million times better :D

$20 off the rrp at the moment (for the polisher set, with sfx pads) + you still get discount too , be quick though its a limited offer

  182cup

das pads look better than sfx pads because of the recessed backing plate, what do you think blue, it is a good deal

well actually i prefer the das pads anyway, but yeh the recessesed bit is good on the das, some people really like the sfx though.

i got 4" sfx pads and there very good, but have never tried the 6" ones

  182cup

Would it be worth getting the pc and just a couple of sets of 4 inch pads as a few on autopia have mentioned it gives the pc a bit more power, looking at the clio i would need the 4 inch pads for nearly half of the car anyway

I have been using the 6 inch das pads, a bit smaller than the sfx pads so a litle more bite

TBH mark the price of pads is so low you may as well get a decent set when ordering the pc

  182cup

Thanks brazo, I am getting a pc soon was thinking of just using megs #80 then p21s gepc then ex-p and top with p21s carnuba ,dont think I will need megs #83 as the car is not bad just very light swirls

what colour is yours

If just very light swirls then you would need the larger pads over the smaller ones but get both sets anyway for a few $. I would go straight from #80 to ex-p myself amd then add your carnauba wax on top!

deffo get some 4" pads, i know a few who havent and then have had to order some afterwards, the 4" pads are good for hard to reach areas, and for spot mark removal

  182cup

The coluor is racing blue, brazo lucky i have some ex-p on its way from pakshak then, blue 182 was thinking of getting das polisher kit + extra das pad kit (backing plate included) 2 of each type of spot pad + 3 1/2 inch backing plate and clay magic kit, anything else I will need cos waiting for credit card cut of date

Im wanting to get the whole lot from screwfix & autopia (to get the "Dollar Discount"). I cant find speed glaze though so what i want to know is.

After washing and drying, i get my clay out and then take off contaminants, then i whip out the DCAP and the PC (What stage is this? polish?), and then i whap out the Speedglaze (will machine glaze do?) and then i put that on with the PC too (is this another polish?). Then finally i get on the NXT wax. Can this go on with the PC? if so with which pad?

Also will i need to use the buffing bonnets on both polishes + wax if ive to use the PC for that?

I was wanting to get a PC about 3 weeks ago but decided against it but now i have a new found passion for keeping my car clean and so want to buy it again.

right, after clay do this

1. meguiars #83 (only needed for medium to bad swirls) ,on orange pad

2. meguiars #80 ,on green pad

3. meguiars NXT tech wax, on blue pad

4. meguiars #16 , by hand

i remove all of the above by hand, you can also get speedglaze (#80) from alex at serious performance

The #83 is a cleaner/polish this is a combined paint cleaner and medium cut polish

The #80 speedglaze is half a light cut polish and halfa glaze (oil;s etc) Do not substitute the #80 for #3 (machine glaze) as this has no cutting power and will not remove the haze that #83 imparts
