Personal Opinion on the best modification done to a 172/182 Performance or Styling?

hi just wondering what opinions you have on great modifications to do the a sport, whether it be for the best performance gains, sound or styling ?

Borrow a code reader from someone to find that out.

For me, a smalle steering wheel is the best simple 'cheap' mod.

The RS Sabelt one is great, but they're hard to get hold of I think, and the fabric wears after a while.

On any car i would say ditch rear wiper, spare wheel and jack stiffer suspension and good brakes.

Aren't they rather useful in certain situations? Such as rain. Or a flat tyre.
(Even if you don't have a spare, don't you have to jack the car up to use Tyre weld?)

My best mod was renuing the standard dampers.

I drive a lorry so used to not seeing out the back and as for spare
check my pressures twice weekly and have tyre weld ive never used it but dont think you need a jack no.

I can talk though as i still have my wiper and spare on. But then thats cos the car is still pretty new.

I would say camber bolts made the biggest difference for the least money.

stripping the boot and a set of lowering spings has made mine feel so much better, along with an OMP wheel :)

Putting federal rsr's tyres on rather than budgets. Difference is night and day.

Yeah i can vouch for cheap tyres being cack. Have conti 3s on the rear and no oversteer ever. Some cheap rockstones on the front and understeer everywhere even in the bone dry!

You didnt mention budget, this is probably going to be going a bit far, but boost IMHO is the best modification, its the only thing that will really totally transform the car for the better massively.
ITBs are ok too, but nothing like the same gains ultimately.

If you want it faster, buy a faster car.

Most of the mods mentioned so far are relatively minor and inexpensive. They will improve the car without leaving you bankrupt.
 
Also, you really wouldn't want to add another 100bhp or so without touching the brakes or suspension first.

Power comes last in my book.

Power makes you faster on the straights subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere

I like my turbo clio, and dont have any of the problems you are claiming I will like being bankrupt etc.

Some people dont want a faster other car, they specifically want a clio, I fall into that category myself for this particular car in fact.

Goes without saying though with any power upgrade you should make sure the brakes and handling are up to it.

I read the question as what is the best mod he can do, not what is a cheap mod or what mod should you do as the only mod, so I was just saying that the biggest transformation (ie "best") ive experienced in any of the many clios Ive owned or worked on for others, is boost.

So I dont see how that is "wrong" ?

Styling wise, Fabia VRS front spoiler is bang on especially when taking into account the price.

Terrible on track or on road?

I find them pretty comfy for long journeys and manage not to fall out of them on track , for a dedicated track car though I would certainly bin them.

The best mod i did to my 172 was fitting the Ktec uprated engine mounts as they made the most noticeable difference performance wise.

Is it just me that feels its the opposite?? I have just had to put my cat back on and although the sound was great with the decat the car feels a lot more responsive, obviously not "quicker" but i could have sworn there were flat spots with the decat and for me a lot less pull after 6k which i think is completely the opposite to what most say.. oh well- either way in my opinion i dont think it does too much
