PI lowering springs- mk1 172

Had a chat with ABP Motorsport at weekend, and the nice chap recommeneded PI springs for the 172, 25mm front and 15mm rear. He says that this would really tighten the handling/cornering, quoted about £210 fitted. Is this good, has anyone got these springs??? Also he said no manufacturers make shocks for the 172 except renault themselves, and of course we already have those then...

hmmmm, 210 quid is alot. i got my spinrgs fitted and torsion bars adjusted for 140quid. And fitting the rears is easy on the 172, so are the fronts, if you have a spring compressor.

I paid around £100 for the PI springs from Carnossieur in Southend. Then had them fitted for £60 cash @ XTreme in Harlow.

It does tighten the handling up and stops the body roll through the twisties. The ride gets very harsh though on country roads !

Ive had the springs on now for over 10k and my shocks are now on the way out. Ive got Koni Adjustables on order from Holland. These should compliment the PI springs. Im also going to fit a Sparco front strut brace.

Cheers,

Si

The rear is SO easy to lower yourself!!!! Open the boot, undo the nuts on top of the shocks, jack the car up and the srpings will fall out!!! Wack in your new ones, do up the shocks and hey presto, the back is lowered!!!! The front is a bit more tricky!!!!!!
