possible alarm fault

The keys for this car (x reg clio sport) had been lost so i ordered a new key from Renault,a plain key without remote but was assured by the Renault dealer that although it would not operate the central
locking it would open the doors individually and work the ign to start the car which it does but when i start the car the hazard lights flash but not through the normal flasher unit,it seems to be part of the alarm system but there is no alarm sounder going off,is this the case and if so where can i disable the hazard lights? The reason i did not get a full remote key is that the car has been stood for 2 years
and i did not want to spend too much until i am sure the car is worth it.

spoke to Renault dealer in Wakefield who said the only way around this problem was to buy the full remote control key at a cost of £180,not sure what to do now,maybe sell for spares!
