Power increase options?

I'm new to tuning Clios and basicly want to know what the options are. I used to have a saxo vts if people went N/A they got cams then if they wanted to take it further bought ITBs. If they went boosted then turbo either diy or off the shelf kit or if you had lots of pennies supercharger kit.

Are these the same routes that people go down with the Clio sports? I noticed people seem to add ITBs without adding wilder cams?

Just wanting general info on the common options people take after your general performance mods like exhaust.

Pretty much yeh as most other mods give little gains.

Yeh itbs, turbos and superchargers are all available, and also you've now got the JMS induction manifold which comes very close to itbs.

What are the "wildest" cams that can be used in the 182? I mean before you have to get pocketed pistons and what bhp gains do these generally see?

The harsh reality is everything is mega expensive on the F4R, both supercharged and turbo charged clios have been proven at over 300bhp and ITB's (on full high comp pistons, rods, crazy cams etc...) at around 230bhp. You'll be surprised at how similar the costs are once you have to strip the engine to do internal work so it really comes down to what you fancy the most.

Obviously if your handy with the spanners you can do the majority of the work yourself which will save you a fair wedge.

Right cool now I understand a bit better, just trying to get to grips with costs involved for each option. Won't be doing anything mad yet I only just got the car. Cams seem like the cheapest option and I've ran a cammed car before day to day (unmapped) but that was a bit of a pain in the ass obv mapped it would be ok. Am I right in saying the Clio doesn't need a standalone ecu to run the N/A options?
 
Some it does, some it doesn't. On ITBs you need a cable throttle conversion which makes the ECU & its associated functions (CC, TC etc) redundant.[FONT=&quot][/FONT]

Does to get the most from it. Because of the way the electronic throttle is controlled by the stock ECU, you've limited to what cam profile you can use. It's being worked on to get more from the standard ECU, but if you're serious about modification, standalone is a good way to go. Depends if you plan to keep the car and continue to develop it or if it's just something you'll do for a few months and move on really

Gettng some good info here guys thanks. Tbh when I look to up the power I'm wanting a drive in drive out style service so either a complete kit that I can fit then take to get mapped or everything done in the one place. I just had to much hassle with my last car doing bits n stages. So can you give me rough options on what to look at? I've seen the jms inlet and can see the costs involved what about itb's?

It depends entirely on your budget and the sort of output you are looking for. The best bet is to navigate the forum and the various project threads; you can soon get a feel of the pros and cons each type of engine work entails. It would also be worth contacting people with various cars to see if they can share in their ownership expierence - from the horse's mouth so to speak.
