Right want a little bit of work done on the clio when i get the money together. Can u tel me how much u think im looking at to spend. im gunna try and do a lot of the pre work myself to it will need final touches to make it smooth before spraying. Oh its a valver in metail silver.

*de-lock both doors (im removing the lock, welding a plate and filling)

*de-handle doors (Same as above) will need to be smoothed properly

*removing thin plastic out of the fat bumper strip and smoothing that out

*smoothing in front and rear seat ibiza splitters to standard bumpers.

*Need door soliniods fitted and wired in. buttons on the outside in inside of the car.

Basicly i need to no how much its gunna cost to do the finishing touches so its all well smooth and sparying time and cost! Wanna try and do the prep work myself so i can save a little money. only 1 big problem will be if i remove the handles im going to have to climb in through the boot when i take it to the bodyshop & if im gunna drive it. the Handles are only an idea at the mo if its gunna be a lot more.

thats quite a lot of work really-

de-lock/ de-handle - i was quoted around £600 - 700 for this- it needs both thre front and rear arches to be sprayed as well really, other wise an exact colour match will be very difficult. this would also include fitting solenoids. however, be very very careful when doing this. i have heard numerous horror stories, even form well established bodyshops, about the solenoids failing, and therefore the only way to get into the car is to break a window, if i were you i would not bother with the de-handling, yes it looks spot on but really can be major hassle!! up tp you really, so not being funny but that initial cost may just be it, but if you have to pay out every couple of months for a new window?? i think the trouble is with the buttons themselves, i think unless they are fitted properly, water can get into the mechanisms/ wiring, can be a real nightmare, up to you. also i heard something once, not sure if this is just hearsay though, that this is not 100% legal??

as for the bumpers, most places will smooth the splitters in for not very much, same with the bump strips, as they will probably have to smooth the bumper anyway, probably looking at about £150 -£200 each bumper, this is all at a guess.

as for people to do it, yes blue valvers work looks spot on and keeps it in the clio family .

yer mate i no a lot about type k. my car was on there website. Thats where i got all my work done before. They did a wicked job on it last time. ive still got my boot lock so i could jump in that way but i no what u mean it would be a lot more work, but it does look so good all smooth as ive already had the door strips smoothed. ive been quotes about 1600 - 1700 for all that work. what do u think for that price?

i think those prices are pretty fair, dont get me wrong i know would look amazing to get it done, just IMHO i dont think its worth the potential hassle! definetely de-locked though, looks wicked, that alone makes the car look a lot smoother, especially as youve had the door strips removed.

nev did talk to me about the pods yes, im in the process of getting front and rear 1/4s made up for my car in the same silver perspex as my boot install. However, the material needed for the prototype is a little more than i first anticipated, and its my brothers company who are helping me out, which they are taking on as a sort of side company, already sorted company name etc, but it will be really helpful for companys like your own to be able to help also. i have contacted some local companys who are willing to help by stocking my gear on a no sale no cost type agreement, was also hoping to speak to companys such as r-tec, once i have some samples made up.

i have also been in contact with a different company who will supply and form the carbon fibre door pods. ive had a sample sent through (not of a door pod, but of an engine component, which could be another venture for me!!) and to be honest the finish and quality is simply stunning, really excited bout it really!! ill keep you posted personally, and hopefully when they do finally go into production will advertise on here. one thing i meant to mention when nev contacted me though was, when i produce them for a clio, they will not have two speakers per door as in my car, they will only have 1 in each. this will avoid messing about with the structure of the actual door, like ive had to, cheers

ok mate. cheers. with the doors it was mainly just an idea coz as i was getting it sprayed just thought i would od the handles. mate that used to work at type k said he would wire it up and that. like on his clio!

Yer definatly let me no about the door pods. Definatly interesed for my own car. things are looking good on the audio side of my company. getting a few contact so hopfully will be a few weeks and i can get things up and running.

you wont need to get the front and rear wings painted if you only have mod work done on the doors. a good bodyshop should be able to get an exact colour match if they use the right paint and spray up colour cards first.

You can pay a lot of money for spraying and sometimes its not worth it. so shop around.

Solenoid doors are very easy to fit as long as you use the right kits and wire them up with relays etc. but it is worth building in an emergency boot manual release just incase one fails. IN terms of MOT think should be fine as the TVR has no handles?

Yer im still keeping the boot lock so that shoul dbe ok for the MOT. im gettin the MOt on my punto done on sat so iw ill ask then about the locks. Thanks for the advice about spraying and that.

If i dont remove the hadles i will get a lush tail gate probably. What does every1 recon i should do. Think it would look quility if i removed the hadles but like ian said it will still look good with out the locks and i had my hadles colourcoded before as well. ahh. decisions

VERY cheap indeed your prob looking at about 2-2.5k of work there

ill prob jinx myself now but ive had no probs with my solonoids or buttons since ive ive done the car. like mentioned aslong as u wire it up correctly u shouldnt have any probs. unless u get a flat battery but there is ways around that. not had to do it yet but in theory i have a plan.

ian if i dont sell the car ill be interested in some door cards and pods if i dont get offered the right money for it ill whack a turbo lump in over xmas
