PS3 - seriously s**t.

Had a few pals over last night. Got hammered. The usual stuff. Tried to play Killzone 3 in 3D with the gun. Ruined by an update that utilised about 1% of my connection and was going to take all night. Again. We gave up.

It's s**t. May as well get into PC gaming. Far easier.

f**k off Sony!

Or buy an Xbox so I can shout uncensored abuse at you. 99% of which you wouldn't understand...

I have an Xbox already mate :)

Pretty sure my Live sub has recently expired, mind you.

At least I know it will work when I next power it up.

I just want to know why PSN is so utterly s**t. Do they think that people with 50mb pipes will not notice the dialup speeds? Laughable.

It's free, but so is dying.

That is why microsoft sees everything they do wrong and does it better, sony really dont help themselves

If only the updates weren't so stupidly implemented, it'd be awesome. Shame really, you'd have thought they'd have sorted it by now.

Despite being capable, it's actually the worst games console I have ever owned.

Never before have I had so much trouble playing games. My PC gaming life carries less stress. Comical.

If you're playing offline with mates disconnect from your network so your ps3 doesn't know an update is available

I've given up playing online now due to every time I go on there seems to be an update and I don't want to wait half an hour to play!
I just use it for bluray and campaign games now. Shame really as I have always been a PS boy.
Once this dies I think I will get an XBOX.

The updates are a pain but you should always make sure they are done before the boys come round.

I dont play online anyway so it doesnt really bother me.

As for moving to Xbox no thanks. PS boy all the way.

This! Such an over rated console. Simply cannot understand how they went from the PS2 to the PS3.

360 is miles better, in every single possible way!

No. Itd need another drive ( a la the HD DVD Player) or be the main one. But neither will happen, maybe on the next gen but I can't see it.

I stopped playing my PS3 about 3 years ago now, been playing Xbox ever since. I won't be buying the next gen playstation when it's released. That's saying Alot IMO coming from a playstation fan boy.

Sony have failed IMO

Were you playing online? If not you can exit out of the update s**t and just load the game without updating. I don't even use mine for Blu Ray anymore as it sounds similar to the Spaceshuttle Atlantis on launch. It only gets used for Skyrim at the moment and I have to wear headphones so I can hear it without waking the neighbours up. I'm hoping it will not expire before The Last Of Us is released as I won't buy another.

I'll see what the new one is like when it's released as I'll be able to get it relatively cheap. I'll probably buy the new Xbox though when it comes.

Re: PS3 - seriously s**t.

I played the demo of Killzone 3 in 3D. One of the worse implementations of 3D I have ever experienced aside from maybe the most recent Resistance game. Wipeout and GT5 were also dreadful.

Best ever implementation of 3D in an FPS was the Halo CE anniversary edition. Really amazing feeling of depth especially when looking at your gun and no ghosting/blurring. Actually for me that is THE best implementation of 3D in any game I have played.

Don't know why but having tried Sky, 360 and PS3 in 3D it was the PS3 that had the worse 3D.

The dreadful download speeds speak for themselves. You get what you pay for and with the PS3 online service being free you can't expect much. I sold it just after Xmas to someone at work.

I do like Move however, better than Kinect and Wii system IMO.

Oh and as for 3D - I don't rate it from what I have seen so far. The only game where the 3D mode could compete with the 2D mode was Halo CE Anniversary and even with that I just found it more comfortable to play in 2D once I got a third of the way in. Same applies to TV really, some of it looks good but once the novelty has worn off I prefer the comfort of 2D. Your mates didn't miss much.

Crysis 2 and Black Ops are great in 3D. Not without compromise, but overall both games are better in three dimensions. IMO of course.

Killzone 3 has a fair few issues in 3D, but couple with Move assault rifle, it's pretty bloody good!

Also I don't have any discomfort problems. I guess it depends on the individual.

Up until recently I'd not been gaming much but seem to be spending more and more time on the PS3 at the moment and can't say I've had any issues, but depends what you're expectations are plus what you're used to I guess.

PC gaming is great but with an ageing desktop there's no hope of it running anything at the moment. Maybe when we move house and I get my office room I'll get a nice shiny new desktop in there...

Had exactly this problem when we bought a PS3 a few weeks back, fired it up, the missus wanted to play Little Big Planet. 23 (TWENTY THREE) updates and 6hrs later the game finally came to life. No idea where the servers are (Tibet?) but it seemed to be running at the same speed as my AOL 56k account back in 1998. Such a poor system, it can't even do it in the background so you are left with a useless black box for hours.

Also bought Uncharted 2, despite being well ventilated/free of obstruction the darn thing sounds like a 747 at full throttle after 10 minutes playing it.

We put it in the bedroom so we had a Blu-Ray player for 'films to fall asleep to' (we never make it through a whole film at night), I thought it would be great for some cheeky gaming when the missus falls asleep as she usually turns in quite a bit before me. However, the 747 taking off next to the TV kinda put the brakes on that idea.

It's not been switched on for two weeks.

i bought one for GT what ever number its on now 5? and it turned out to be w**k (im sure thats been covered to death on here) so its still sitting under my TV after being used for 6 hours to "install" GT and 10 minutes playing it. was going to use it as a blueray player but its far far to loud so just stuck a blueray drive in my PC.

Xbox360 is good altho i only have forza 4 for it.

I don't get the complaints about it being loud. My 360 was like sitting in the middle of a motorway whist watching a film on that.

I recently went out and bought both consoles on the same day. Basically used the xbox once for forza 4, thought it was s**t and switched the PS3 back on.

The fact it can play blue ray makes it superior IMO. The controller is alot more user friendly too.

Ill buy the next gen. Not one to que in the middle of the night like an idiot though

Do you work for Sony?

No such download problems here, so its certainly not a global issue. I can download a HD movie from PS store in 5-10 minutes. I am on a 100mbit cable connection though

Did someone just compliment the PS3 controller?

Re: PS3 - seriously s**t.

PC does own all FACT. I use my PS3 more than the xbox though, the xbox only gets used for Bomberman Live with the lads. Epic game

I've been using PS3 since launch day, aside from the PSN meltdown and some breakdowns (which, for a 5 yr-old machine is fairly acceptable in my book) it hasn't skipped a beat.

PSN would use all of my cable line if it coulde (and usually did), I can't comment about which has the better graphics or on-line because I don't have an X-box, but it's fine for me.

As for the controllers, when you get something right first time, why bother changing it? Only controller I liked more was on Dreamcast, but that'sonly because you could beat people at virtua tennis on it.
