Question RE: Insurance & MOT

Basically my insurance and MOT have run out at the same time. I'm wondering:

- Can I get insurance on the car without an MOT, in order to drive it to the MOT?

- Can I get someone to tow my car whilst I am in it with no insurance/MOT?

- If none of the above, wtf can I do?!

I think some of the answers are obvious, however I'm just making sure here.

All help appreciated, cheers.

you can insure a car without mot, theoretically. they wont ask for proof. as for gettign towed, strictly no! when did the mot run out?

Last week I think. I knew it was going to happen, as with the insurance so I'm not a r****d or anything. I'll insure it the day I get the MOT then, thanks for the reply :)

Not much help right now, but next year, you can get your MOT done early (I think its up to a month) then you should be covered come insurance renewal time.

You could try dayinsure...but don't know how much they'll charge you!

Cheers Donny. I would have got the MOT done on time but the ABS failed, lights came on the dash, coil pack went, brake light stopped working (and so on) all in the week I was going to get it done :(

easiest way round it will be to get someone to drive your car to the test centre who is covered on their policy to drive any other vehicle. this means the person driving is insured to drive it because if it is going to/from an mot appointment your ok.

can your mum/dad do that for you? as long as it is booked for an mot and is going to/from dont worry.

Though the car they are driving has to be isnured by the legal owner so it wouldn't work.

Otherwise i'd be insuring a 1lt micra sat on my drive and driving around in my 182.

lmao, legend.

Personally I would ring up the insurers and explain to them the situation and make SURE you are okay to drive it without MOT.

It really is that easy to get pulled and if you are found out to be without insurance or MOT they will rape you up the behind.

Its got tax. Book MOT, insure it, drive to MOT and make sure you have the number of the MOT station incase you get stopped. Your allowed to drive to the MOT station, IIRC.

No, you can't be the registered owner/keeper of the second car.

The 182 would have to be owned by someone else and cover is limited to third party ONLY not even fire and theft.

Also it is only insured whilst the driver is sat in it, park it on a public road and expect it to get clamped/towed or whatever they do these days.
